Concept Summary:
Time is measured in seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and
years.
The long hand of the clock is called minute hand and the short hand is
called hour hand.
There are 24 hours in a day.
The hour hand takes one hour to move
from one number to the next. It
completes one round of the clock face
every twelve hours.
The minute hand, however, moves faster
than hour hand and completes one round
of the clock face in one hour.
There are 7 days in a week.
There are 12 months in a year.
There are 365 days in a year.
There are 366 days in a leap year.
A.M AND P.M
When the hour hand of a clock goes around the clock once, 12 hours
have passed. The hour hand completes 2 rounds of the clock face
twice day.
A new day begins at 12 o clock midnight and ends at 12 o clock the
next midnight.
We use A.M (ante meridiem) for the time after 12 midnight and before
12 noon.
We use P.M (post meridiem) for the time after 12 noon and before 12
midnight.
[We do not write A.M or P.M for 12 o clock. Instead we use 12 noon or
12 midnight]
Conversions in Time:
1 Hour = 60 minutes
1 Minute = 60 Seconds
To convert from hours to minutes, multiply by 60
To convert from minutes to Hours, Divide by 60
To convert from minutes to Seconds, Multiply by 60.
To convert from Seconds to Minutes, Divide by 60
To convert from days to Hours, Multiply by 24.
To convert from Hours to days, divide by 24.
Time Duration:
Time Duration is to Calculate Duration Between Two Dates
With Time. i.e., To calculate the duration, we have to count the number of
years, months, days, hours, minutes and seconds between two moments
in time.
