Radar Problem

The document asks three questions: 1) What is the peak power of a radar with 200W average power, 1μs pulse width, and 1000Hz pulse repetition frequency? 2) What is the range of this radar to detect a 2m^2 target at 2.9GHz using a 5m x 2.7m antenna with 60% efficiency and a minimum detectable signal of 10^-12W? 3) Sketch the receiver echo power vs range from 10-80nmi for this radar.

PROBLEM 2

a) What is the peak power of a radar whose average transmitter power is 200 W, pulse
width of 1 μs, and a pulse repetition frequency of 1000 Hz?
b) What is the range (nmi) of this ground-based air surveillance radar if it has todettect a
targer with a radar coss section of 2 m2 when it operates at a frequency of2.9 GHz (S
band), with a rectangular-shaped antenna that is 5 m wide , 2.7m high, antenna
aperture efficiency ρa= 0.6, and minimum detectable signal equal to Smin =10-12 W
(based on Pt in the radar equation being the peak power)?
c) Sketch the receiver echo signal power as a function of range from 10 to 80 nmi.
