I had to copy this essay because I was late to class. Being tardy causes several problems such as interrupting the teacher and other students' learning. It can also cause the student to fall behind in their work and have their grades suffer. When students are on time, the class can run smoothly and everyone has a chance to learn. Being punctual is important for success in school and future jobs, as employers expect workers to arrive on time. Copying this essay is a waste of time, and I will try harder to be on time for class in the future to avoid this consequence.

Tardy to Class

Directions: (Write the following essay and complete the questions that follow in
complete sentences. Turn this in to the After School Detention teacher to receive
credit).

I am copying this essay because I was late to class. Being late to class causes many
problems. When I am late, my teacher has to stop teaching to deal with my behavior.
Others students have to stop learning. I also miss the chance to learn new information. I
may fall behind in my work. If I get too far behind, my grades may suffer.

When I am on time, the class can run smoothly and on schedule. I can be on time and be
in control of my behavior. It is important that I learn. It is important that other students
learn. Being on time gives everybody that chance.

Being on time, or punctual, is important to my future. Being tardy is not accepted at this
school and it is not accepted in the working world. My boss, like my teacher, will expect
me to be on time. If I am late for a job, I could get fired.

Copying this essay is a waste of my time. I could be doing something else. I am going to
try harder to be on time for class. If I do this, I will not have to copy this essay in my
future.
