BOWEN STRENGTH DATA
CONTENTS
This booklet contains strength charts relating to many standard Bowen tools.
Unless othertise indicated, all the strength figures shown are the result of calculotiom
based on the yield strength of the material used in the manufacture of the partimkar item.
These strength calculations are considered ammate within plus or minus 20% and ore
intended only OS a guide. They do not constitute a guarantee, actual or implied. In use, ap-
propriate alZowance should be made as a safety factor.

TABLE OF CALCULATED STRENGTHS
FOR
BOWEN SHORT CATCH OVERSHOTS
SERIES “70”
“NOTE: All strengths listed are calculated theoretical yield points and accurate within 20%. It should be
noted, however. that all strengths assume a straight, steady pull and full grapple engagement of a round fish.
Anything less than full engagement or straight pulling will reduce the listed strength substantially. Tong marks
and other surface damage to the bowl will also reduce the strength. Jarring may amplify the pull load by a
factor of 3 to 10.”

BOWEN RELEASING & CIRCULATING OVERSHOTS
SERIES ‘150” (Continued)
NOTE: All strengths listed are calculated theorcttcal yletd points and arc accurate wlthln 20%. It should be noted, howevef, that
111 strengths assume P sttralght, steady pull and full grapple engagement of a mund fish. Anythlng less than tull engagement or
stratght putting will reduce the listed strength substantially. This includes tong marks or other damage to the bowl surface.

WARNING
All jarrlng and pulling loads shown In lhis manual assume that the lorce is acting alone and is essentially along the mafor axis of the tool If
torque and tension or bending and tenston are used together, the resulting combined stresses may lead to fallure at substantially less
than rated loads. Rotation and bending together can lead to fatigue
