Pews - Please try to leave the pews tidy after Mass - Thank you
When we take risks, when we let the props go and give ourselves up to the struggle, the goodness of
God is more radiant than at other times.
What is love? I have met it on the streets, a weary poor
man who was in love. His hat was old, his coat worn. The
water passed through his shoes and the stars through his
eyes.

CATHOLIC CARE APPEAL 2019 The Annual Appeal for Catholic Care will take place over the
weekend of 30th and 31st of March. The Charity undertakes so much good work, caring for those
who are disadvantaged and marginalised, including those with disabilities, babies, children and
families, older people including the retired priests, and much work reaching out into the
community. These are financially challenging times, especially for our community work. Please give
as generously as you are able.
DAY OF RECONCILIATION AT LEEDS CATHEDRAL: Thursday 11th April 2019 from 7 am- 7pm. See
poster for more details.
DIOCESAN CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION: Sunday 19th May 2019 from 3 pm round the grounds of
Mount St Joseph’s and Hinsley Hall, Leeds.
THE CATHOLIC SHOOLS APPEAL SERVICE are recruiting panel members to hear appeals by parents
for Diocesan school places. This is a voluntary role but travel expenses can be claimed – full
training will be provided. Appeal panels consist of both lay members of the community and those
from an educational background. For further information, please contact Emma on 0113 261 8040
or email [email protected]
LENT This is a time of renewal – of abstinence, of reconnection with God and ourselves. Please
take advantage for God’s sake and for your sake.
FOOD BANK We are still receiving much needed supplies which are delivered to the food bank in
Rothwell every Thursday. If you haven’t yet been able to donate, could you perhaps add an extra
item to your weekly shopping for those who are experiencing the great poverty of hunger in our
community.
THE FRIENDS OF THE BRIERY are having a Quiz Night on Wednesday, 3rd April at 7 p.m at the

CATHEDRAL BELL RINGERS: We are coming up to the 40th Anniversary of the installation of our
peal of eight bells at St Anne’s Cathedral. To help us to continue with our Sunday bell ringing
between the two main Masses, we are looking to recruit more bell ringers. If you are interested in
‘learning’ to ring with our keen and enthusiastic team, do come ‘up’ the tower and see us, the
entrance is via the staircase in the memorial Chapel. Or contact our ringing Master – Barrie Dove
on 07952 026608.
