Lab 4 - U-Velocity and Acceleration Analysis

The document contains information about several mechanisms with rotating cranks and sliding components. It provides the dimensions, rotational speeds, and requested kinematic quantities for each mechanism. The first mechanism has a crank rotating at 8 rad/s, with pistons C and E having velocities of 615 mm/s and 210 mm/s and accelerations of 4.05 m/s^2 and 9.8 m/s^2. The second mechanism has a crank rotating at 2000 rpm, with sliders B and D's velocities and accelerations to be determined. The third mechanism has a crank rotating at 120 rpm, with the acceleration of block D being 7.7 m/s^2 and the angular acceleration of

Acceleration analysis
In the mechanism shown in Figure (II.5), the crank AB is 75 mm long and rotates
clockwise at 8 rad/s. L(BC) =300 mm and L(BD) =L(CD) =L (DE). Find the
velocity and acceleration of pistons C and E.
[ 615 mm /s, 210 mm/s, 4.05 m/s2, 9.8 in /s2]

Figure 2.50 shows the mechanism used in a two-cylinder 60° V-engine with an articulated connecting
rod. Crank 2 rotates in a clockwise direction at a. speed of 2000 rpm. Determine the velocities and
accelerations of the sliders at B and D. Given 02A = 2 cm, AC=2cm, AB=BC=6 cm, and AC=5cm.
Fig. shows a quick return motion mechanism in which the driving crank OA rotates at 120r.p.m.
in a clockwise direction. For the position shown, determine the magnitude and direction of 1, the
acceleration of the block D ; and 2. the angular acceleration of the slotted bar QB.
[Ans. 7.7 m/s2 ; 17 rad/s2]

In the mechanism shown in the Fig.(IV.5), the crank OA is 80 mm long and it rotates clockwise about O at
150 rpm. The connecting rod is 320 mm long. At a point C on AB, 120 mm from A, the rod CE of 350 mm
length is attached. The rod CE slides in a slot in a trunnion at D. The link EF is 260 mm long with horizontal
movement of slider. For the shown position of the mechanism, find velocity and acceleration of slider F. OA
= 80 mm AB=320mm CE=350mm AC=120mm EF=260mm.
