Keep hydrated; drink enough water. If drinking Gatorade or similar products use a 2:1 ratio (2 quarts water to 1 quart of Gatorade).
Officers should bring a meal with them and snacks that are small enough to fit into a cargo pocket
Maintain communications with adjoining teams, supervisors and crew. Test your communications, use human repeaters when
necessary.
Officers will be working in and around train tracks. They will also be covering some overgrown vegetation. Officers should were
sturdy shoes that lace up past the ankle to provide support. While moving around the tracks there is a greater chance of ankle
injuries due to lose rocks.
Traffic vests should be used when operating near the train tracks and shall wear them while working along the roadway for added
visibility. CSX has been notified that officers will be near the tracks. As a result the trains will be operating at a slower speed in the
area. Extra caution should be used near the tracks with possibly using a lookout to exclusively monitor the tracks.
Officers reaching in areas that are overgrown should be wearing eye and hand protection. Gators are also recommended to
protect the legs.
Officers should bring tick and bug spray. A product containing DEET is recommended. Make a supervisor aware of tick bites.
Snakes, poisonous and non-poisonous, are known to the area. Look before walking or placing your hand into an area.
