CHAPTER 1

A. INTRODUCTION

Vending machine is a coin-operated machine for selling merchandise. Vending


machine has many benefits such as no need human energy, flexible in time, and saving time.
This is an automatic machine that sells food such as canned soups and packaged sandwiches,
snacks such as potato chips, chocolate bars, and candy; hot drinks (coffee, tea, and hot
chocolate); cold drinks (juice, bottled water, soft drinks, and in some cases, milk or chocolate
milk); or other items such as newspapers.

Firstly, vending machine benefit is not using any human energy in it. Machine manufacturers
sell machines to the operator that decides which payment system. Secondly, vending machine
is operated anytime even if its holiday or weekend. The labor work can be saving from having
operators that’s operated on it. Lastly, with this vending machine. All they must do is place
5-peso coin and push some buttons to get the product.

This pen vending machine is one of the most popularly placed machines across the United
States and will serve you for decades. This machine has a huge market with high annual
revenues for both developed and developing countries. Gradually, vending machines became a
wide channel with increase in sales and even the competition between the manufacturers. It
does have many benefits in terms of setup, it is easy to setup a vending machine because it
occupies very less space and is compact in size, it is a low-cost driven machine and can provide
various products.

The main motive of this project is to design a low-cost effective vending machine, which can
provide pencils which is a useful product. The most important component of this machine is the
detection of the coin that accepts and determines the value of inserted coin. The purpose of this
paper and project is to make a machine which can provide pencils and less costly products at
an outlet and make it user-friendly for product. The principle is simple: the users or customers
pays to the machine in form of coin and machine will return the selected goods.
B. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
