When I was at school it was my only wish to finish my school and start my higher

education. After years of hard study and hard work I graduated from school, got the chance of

studying at university. Now I am student at American University of Afghanistan (AUAF)

studying Business Administration. For me this was a big step toward achieving my goal. I have

always wanted to be a famous person in future and to be respected by others. My goal is to

become a business woman and get international recognition. This is important to me because in

our country women are under control of men. Women rely on men as they are providing them

(women) home facilities, clothing, feed them and etc. I don’t want to be one of those women in

fact I want to stand by my own feet, improve my life also help my people specially women and

take a big part in building of my country to make my country a better living place. Most of all to

prove it to my people that a woman can do everything as men in our country if they have a goal

in their life and courage. At first it was something impossible for me because in our country

women do not have much right and freedom as men. Years passed like this, one day I though

with myself why I should not change these assumptions which exist among my people. Women

also can do what they want in their life. I knew the big thing that will help me is continuing my

education.

American University of Afghanistan (AUAF) is a big opportunity for me to achieve what

I want in my life. To achieve my goals I have to continue my education at American University

of Afghanistan. I am sure that I will gain lots of knowledge and experiences in four years of my

education at this university. So I can work wherever I want to achieve my goal. As it’s my first

semester in this university I should make myself aware of this university’s rule and regulation. I

should Study hard that all my grades should be A or B not less than these. Do my assignments on

time; be prepared before entering the class. Do my best that my greatest point average (GPA)
should be 4. Take courses which are required for getting my bachelor degree, and should take

some general classes to increase my knowledge that will help me in my both professional and

personal life. As I want to become a business woman in future should learn new skill get new

experiences to get a complete understanding of leading a company. After completing each step

which will bring me nearer to my goal I praise myself and celebrate my achievement. Mostly My

short term goal is study hard to pass my exams successfully and my GPA should be high. For

example after studying hard and passing my exam successfully to relax my mind and praise

myself I go to my friend’s house or see a movie spent time with my family and etc. celebrating

my each achievement helps me get more motivated to achieve my goal

I know my goal is not like a small dream which will come true so quickly and easily. It

needs lots of effort, good planning, and hard work and time. To achieve what I want out of my

life (that is to become a business woman). I have to get my bachelor degree in Business

Administration. It will take me four or more than four years to get my bachelor degree. Then get

a job in an company to have work experience and get used with the way of working, make

money and go abroad to continue my higher education get my master degree come back to my

country with a qualified education, lunch my own business and serve my country. These all are

my future goals that now I am working on it and planning to achieve it.

As I mentioned before my goal is not something to be accomplished so easily it requires

hard work, patient, and support. Because in this way I may come up with different challenges

and problems. As I want to go abroad for getting my master degree in business administration.

We are living in an Islamic country. People are strict about travelling of women abroad for

education. If I had supper of my family then I will go abroad to continue my education ignore

others if my family do not support; on that time I will have to continue my education at my own
country. This may be a kind of problem that I may face in future. If this occurs to me, on will

study in my own country I will get my master degree from AUAF. Another problem I may face

is economical situation. Like, I may not be able to afford travelling to another country, studding

there to get my master degree, then as I said before I will continue my education in my own

country. Women in our country usually do not work in businesses or have their own business. I

think it will be a kind of fear that I will have for running my own business but I can get around it

by having support from other women who are enthusiastic in this field as me. also, I may not get

may desired job, or I may not lunch my own business as afghan women have limited freedom or

other people treat them every day we have these problems in our country if I face such a problem

on that time I will work in others Construction Company, make partnership with them. But one

thing that I am sure about is that my family will always stand by me provide me with different

facilities to continue my education, motivate me toward achieving my goal and also US embassy

has been a big support toward achieving my goal as they provided me with the scholarship of

four year education at AUAF university. I hope they will help me more and provide me with

more education facilities

Finally, achieving my goal after years of hard work and hard study will give me sense of

self-esteem make me no longer rely on my parent stand by my own feet. Celebrate my success

with my family and friends. Have a better life a life which I have always imagined, have my

own construction company, make more money, and help my poor people have a better life.
