Trigonometric Identities

Here are the steps to find the derivative of h(x): h(x) = 2cotx/(1+cot^2x) Apply the quotient rule: h'(x) = (1+cot^2x)(2(-csc^2x)) - (2cotx)((2cotx)(-csc^2x)) = (1+cot^2x)(-2csc^2x) + 4cotx^2csc^2x = -2csc^2x - 4cotx^2csc^2x = -2csc^2x(1+2cot^2x) = -2csc^2xsec^2x

DIFFERENTIATION FORMULA
Derivative of Trigonometric Function
For the differentiation formulas of the trigonometric
functions, all you need to know is the differentiation
formulas of sin u and cos u. Using these formulas
and the differentiation formulas of the algebraic
functions, the differentiation formulas of the
remaining functions, that is, tan u, cot u, sec u and
csc u may be obtained.
