Citect SCADA Assignment1
Assignment 1
Assignment 1(Module1-6)
Estimated Duration-90mints
Module -1
Configuration – Centered around the Citect explorer to create and manage the
projects.
Runtime – Used to control and manage the plant. During runtime, Citect SCADA
communicates with I/O devices, process alarms, animate levels, symbols etc.
Configuration:
The overview of configuration contains Citect Explorer, Project Editor,
Graphics Builder and Cicode Editor.
Runtime:
i) Vijeo Citect Web Client – It displays the live Vijeo Citect project in
Web browser. It provides easy access to the users requesting
read/write access.
ii) Internet Display Client – It is a runtime-only version. It cannot be a
server and cannot be used to change the configurations. It is used to
run the project. It can run multiple instances at the same time.
iii) Process Analyst – In this, operators are allowed to monitor the trend
and alarm tag data for comparison and analysis in the existing Vijeo
Citect server architecture.
iv) Vijeo Citect runtime Manager – It is used to start, stop, monitor and
shutdown the processes.
Driver: Citect SCADA communicates with any control or monitoring I/O
device that has a communication port or data exchange interface.
Module 2
Graphics

I/O device data types
Predefined templates
Predefined commands
Reserved ANs
Predefined character set
Predefined fonts
Predefined devices
Predefined Cicode files
Predefined color names and codes
Predefined labels
Predefined keyboard key codes
ASCII character codes
Module 3
Bitmap Editor – In one simple step, any graphics object (or group of
objects) can be converted into a bitmap. Using the Bitmap Editor, Bitmaps
are edited. To edit the bitmap pixel by pixel, the Bitmap Editor tool is used.
Using the tool, the pixel can zoom in and out, even the smallest details can
be edited precisely. The size of the bitmap can also be changed.
By using the Restore Project utility, we can restore backed-up and archived
projects. To overwrite any current project with a backed-up version, or
restore a backed-up project as a completely new project, this utility is used.
To restore a project:
1 Open Citect Explorer.
2 Click Restore, or choose Tools | Restore.
3 In the Restore dialog specify a source directory and a destination project.
4 Click OK to restore the project
Module 4
11) What is the affect of installation done with ‘Runtime Only Server’
component during configuration? 4M
Module 5
The specifications for client and server applications that are focused on the
continuous communication of real-time data are provided by the OPC Data
Access solution (OPC DA). Vijeo Citect supports a runtime OPC DA server
to implement the mandatory OPC DA v2.05 and OPC DA v3 interface
specifications. Because of this, Vijeo Citect provides a real-time data to any
compliant OPC DA Clients, including applications such as AMPLA, OSI-PI
and Historian.
16) How to update a web client deployment to reflect the project changes?
5M
Module6
17) Distinguish between developer and operator in process analyst 4M
Developer Operator
Monitors during design time Monitors during runtime
Assists with development and Facilitate the work of components
maintenance during runtime
Provides functional and process Configure various properties of
expertise process analyst
Requires technical knowledge about Does not require technical
process analyst knowledge about process analyst
18) List down the procedure how to edit the existing custom commands in
process analyst? 4M
1. Click the Toolbars button after opening the properties dialog box
2. Click Edit after selecting the required command to edit in the Available
toolbar buttons list box
