Pre-Installation
1. Requires a 64 bit operating system.
2. Requires at least 4GB RAM.
3. Requires Administrator rights to install.
4. Requires Read/Write privileges on the Sirovision directory, typically C:\Program
Files\Datamine\Sirovision. This is because when you set up camera and lens calibrations and run
some other routines in the software, files get updated.
5. V6.1 cannot be installed as a 2nd Sirovision instance on the same computer. All previous
Sirovision builds must be uninstalled before V6.1 should be installed.
6. It is strongly recommended you download all windows service packs and update your graphics
card driver from your graphics card manufacturer’s website.

System Requirements
Operating System
Sirovision is supported on 64-bit operating systems Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 & Windows 10.

Platform Requirements
We recommend the following hardware to be used:

Hardware Recommended Specification

PROCESSOR 8 or more Core Processors

MEMORY 16GB RAM

GRAPHICS CARD At least 2GB on board memory and 128 CUDA cores for GPU Support.
NVIDIA - , see http://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-gpus for a list of
recommended cards.
AMD/ATI video cards are also compatible, but GPU support will not
be available with these cards

HARD DISK At least 3GB for storage of datasets.

Display Requirements
It is recommended to use a minimum screen resolution of at least 1024 pixels by 768 pixels.

3D Graphics Issues
If you experience problems such as:

• the 3D image freezes or crashes


• the 3D image is displayed but there are black strips missing from the image
Try the following:

• Download the very latest driver for your graphics card from the video card manufacturer’s
website, EVEN IF YOU ARE USING A NEW COMPUTER. Restart your computer.
• If the updated driver does not fix the problem, try decreasing the hardware acceleration or
adjusting the color depth.
It is recommended that if you are about to purchase a new computer or a new graphics card that you
choose a Graphics Card with a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) as Sirovision can use GPU's to improve
performance substantially.

Installing the Software


From either the downloaded software or from the installation CD, to begin the installation, right-click on
the Sirovision_Matlab 6.1.6.1 EN.EXE and select ‘RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR’.

Installation Check
Windows 7 & Windows 10
1. Sirovision installer will do a check to see if prerequisite programs it requires to run are already
installed on the computer. If these programs are not already present they will be installed.

2. IT IS ESSENTIAL that MATLAB 2016a installs correctly in order for Sirovision 6.1 to run correctly.
This is a 800MB installer and takes up to 15 minutes to install.
3. After installation completes, open CONTROL PANEL and select PROGRAMS & FEATURES and check
that MATLAB RUNTIME 9.0.1 has been installed.

4. If any prerequisite programs are missing, check you have full ADMINISTRATOR rights and run the
Sirovision installer again. If it fails again, contact Datamine Support.

Windows 8 and 8.1


In addition to the prerequisite programs required for Windows 7 & 10, installing Sirovision on Windows 8
will check whether .NET FRAMEWORK 3.5 is enabled. If not it will open a prompt for you to enable this.
There is no download required for Windows 8 or 8.1, you must enable the .NET FRAMEWORK 3.5 in

Graphics Card Drivers


The first time you run Sirovision, if you have an NVidia card, the program checks if the NVDIA graphics
driver will support the version of the CUDA library we are using (8.17.12.6776). If the version is under that
minimum version, the message below displays.

1. If this message displays, this is NOT AN ERROR. This just means you need to update your graphics
card drivers from

b. If you do update the graphics card drivers and you continue to receive this error, please
make sure you are installing the latest version of Sirovision by contacting
[email protected]
2. If you have a ATI RADEON graphics card, download drivers from

Errors encountered whilst working with Sirovision
If Sirovision has installed and opens correctly and you are working on a project, then encounter error
messages, check whether the error message being displayed are similer to the cases shown below.

Error message mentions ‘MATLAB’


1. When processing 3D images, if you get critical errors which refer to MATLAB such in the figures
shown below, this is because Sirovision is trying to make calls to MATLAB and MATLAB most likely
has not been installed on your computer.

In this case, contact your IT ADMIN and inform them that you need to reinstall Sirovision with full
ADMINISTRATOR rights to all all directories on your computer. If this fails, ask your IT ADMIN to
contact Datamine Support and we will send them the MATLAB installation program so this can be
installed seperately.

If MATLAB has installed but you are still getting critical MATLAB
related errors.
Matlab Environment Variable PATH error
If Sirovision and MATLAB appear to have installed properly, but when you try and create a 3D image or
create a mosaic there is an error in Sirovision which states that it cannot find a Matlab DLL, this is because
when Matlab installed it did not add the correct path to the ENVIRONMENT VARIABLE called PATH.

SOLUTION:
Please do the following:
1. Click on the windows icon in bottom left and type ‘system variable’.
2. This will display the ‘Edit the System Environment Variables’. Open this.
3. Select ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES
4. In the lower SYSTEM VARIABLES window, scroll to and highlight PATH
5. Select EDIT.
6. Copy the entire path variable and paste it into a word doc or notepad.
7. Check that the following path for MATLAB has been added ‘C:\Program Files\MATLAB\MATLAB
Compiler Runtime\v713\runtime\win64’
8. If it has, check that there are no spaces or extra colons in the PATH. If so, delete them.
9. SAVE the new PATH value.
10. Rerun Sirovision.
