Assignment:2 - AML 169 - Engineering Mechanics (B Arch) : Submit in A4 Sheets

This document outlines 8 engineering mechanics assignment questions involving calculating member forces in various truss structures using methods like method of joints, method of sections, and considering factors like maximum member forces and support conditions. Diagrams of truss structures are provided for questions 1-7 to determine member forces, and question 8 involves calculating specific member forces in a truss with given support conditions and loading.

1. Determine the reaction and force in each member of the truss by method of joints shown in
Fig.1 and indicate whether the members are in tension or compression?

2. Determine the force in each member of the truss shown in Fig. 2 .Indicate whether the members
are in tension or compression by using method of joints.

3. Determine the greatest load P that can be applied to the truss so that none of the members are
subjected to a force exceeding either 2 kN in tension or 1.5 kN in compression.

4. Identify the zero-force members in the truss. Calculate the member forces in truss as shown in
Fig.4

5. Determine the force in each member of the truss by method of sections from Fig.5. State if the
members are in tension or compression.

6. Determine the force in each member of the truss shown in Fig.6 and state if the members are in
tension or compression. Set θ = 300 .
