Approach, Method, Technique

The audiolingual method has the following key elements: 1. It is based on the theories of structural linguistics and behaviorism which view language as a set of habits. 2. The method focuses on developing listening comprehension, accurate pronunciation, recognition of speech symbols, and reproduction of those symbols through extensive oral instruction and drills. 3. Lessons are structured around dialogues and drills to train learners to produce correct responses through modeling by the teacher in a teacher-dominated environment.
