2018 School-Based BSP Camporal

OBJECTIVES: To develop character training, leadership and helping boys become

independent persons who are helpful to other people.

DATE SCHEDULE: September 21-23, 2018

VENUE: San Miguel Village School, Inc. School Ground

TARGET PARTICIPANTS: Elementary and Junior High School Students of SMVS

COMMITTEE: San Miguel Village Teachers and BSP Staff

CHAIRPERSON: Ms. Leira Mel C. Ranoco

NARRATIVE REPORT:

A Camporal is an anual activity usually held in school campus joined by every member

of BSP organization, whether students or teachers. It is organized particularly by the teachers

together with a two or more representative of the BSP organization.

On this kind of event, there are many outdoor activities that the students will enjoy to get

involve with. Since it was a three days activity, a set of program that was prepared especifically

by the chairman should be followed. In SMVS’s case, there was an Opening Ceremony on the

first day of the event. It was attended by a staff from the BSP, the parents of some of the

students, and the teachers. Basics of boys scouting was presented by the scouters like marching,

scout signing, scout saluting, and parade resting. The tying of the neckerchief was also observed.

On the second day, the formal trainings for the scouters had begun. The scouters, after

they have eaten their breakfast, they were called to the ground and started fetching up their

respected works. Since the scouters were stationed into five groups a day ahead, they were taught

scouting skills per station. Scouting skills taught to them were the Knot Tying led by Teacher

Christy, the memorization of Scout Law and Scout Promise by group (Sir Christian Jaylo

Hombre), Survival skills such as cooking eggs using leaves and direct sunlight. A lecture

regarding peace was also presented by Teacher Rissy Gabonada in which the campers were

given a chance to show their perseption about it. On the evening, campfire ceremony was

facilitated by the teachers. It was indeed a very inspiring, reflective, and fun activity. The
campers lighted the fire to lighten the camp site. The campers by patrol also showcased their

talent in singing and dancing, even in pagaent.

On the third day, it was the highlights of the activities, nature trail were facilitated by the

teachers and Eagle officers who exerted their effort in setting the task to be done by scouters.

The advisers were in-charge of the 5 patrols who serve as guide during the hiking. Awards and

prizes were given to the patrol teams who won the different tasks. The campers enjoyed the

activities done during the encampment and they told themselves to participate in the following

years.

Truly, most of the students were very good in different areas and they showed their

expertise in different fields such as giving command, public speaking, leadership, painting,

skills, nurturing, and nature trailing.

RECOMMENDATIONS/CONCLUSION:

This kind of activity is such an important aspect of every shool year. It will not just

develop self-discipline, determination, self-confidence and camaraderie, but also, ignites the

leaders in each individuals. As a recomendations for the next Camporal Activity, it should be

more exciting, more inspiring, more engaging, and more memorable for the campers. This is to

attract more students to love and join the Camping activities not just in school ground but also in

outdoors.
