Introduction

Technology is making modification, usage and knowledge of tools, machines,

techniques and methods of organization, in order to solve a conundrum, improve a pre-

existing solution to a problem, achieve a goal, handle an applied input and output relation

or perform a specific function. It can also refer to the collection of such tools including

instrument, modification, arrangements and procedures. One of the remarkable and much

known products of technology advancement is the conversion of manually-operated

system into automated system. Automation produces impact in the lives of man,

particularly in the business, medicine and education.

Research Description

An information system is usually a form of software that helps analyze and

organize large amount of data and to turn raw data into useful information that can be

used for decision making in an organization. It is very time consuming and sometimes

leads to a disaster if output is not efficient. The lack of preparation of time can also the

result in classes that are not planned or prepared as well as they could be. Having

adequate preparation time is a critical factor to a teacher’s satisfaction. The proponents

aim to develop a “Basic Education Information System” that will help organize the

teachers work load. Manual system is retrieving, maintaining, security and filling of

records consume lot of time and effort. These files were only kept in envelope, folder or

wooden racks. There are also instances when the right information is given to the wrong

person, which may affect quality of service. The need for a computerized system is very

much essentials to establishments, especially schools. It provides a great help when it

comes to organizing and speeding up process of work in offices.

KCC Basic Education Information System is a powerful tool designed to help

create school’s master schedule. The schedule created by the scheduling system can be

analyzed, adjusted and rerun an unlimited number of times until the desired results are

achieved. The power of Information System will greatly reduce the time it takes to create

school’s faculty schedules. Scheduling and Loading Information System is used specially

on school’s registrar to provide information about the school faculty. An information

system helps and provides efficient and reliable services to the teachers, principal and

administration. This system improved the process of subject schedules and faculty loads.

General Objectives

The research aims to develop the KCC Basic Education Information System to

provide fast and efficient access of information about the workload of the faculty in the

process of searching of rooms, faculty, subject schedule and reducing the time for

scheduling.

Specific Objectives

 To provide information about the workload of the faculty and improve the process

of searching of rooms, faculty and subject schedules

 To reduce the time in scheduling a faculty work load and develop a system that

properly documented

 To analyze and organize a large amount of data

 To support the current system of scheduling and loading information system and

produce a good results and effects to the school

Scope and Limitation

The research proposal of KCC Basic Education Information System is designed

and developed for the whole year 2016-2017 at Kabankalan Catholic College Elementary

and High School Department. The system benefits personnel particularly the principal of

the Elementary and High School Department. The research is about developing the

current system to a more efficient and reliable system that can solve the problems stated

from the previous pages. In order to do that, the researcher’s interviews the principal

from Elementary and High School Department. In Elementary Department, there are

twenty (20) teachers including the principal. There are twenty-one (21) classrooms in

Elementary Department. In each grade level, there are fifteen (15) sections from grade 1-

6 including the nursery and kindergarten. In High School Department, there are thirty-

three (33) teachers including the principal and part time teachers. There are eighteen (18)

classrooms in Junior High School. In grade seven (7) and eight (8) there are five (5)

sections and in grade nine (9) and ten (10) there are four (4) sections. Understanding on

how the current system workflow gives the researcher’s ideas on how the researcher’s

will develop the system. The system will record the necessary information with regard

from the subjects and faculty. The system will schedule the subjects and assign it to the

rooms.

The system is secured with username and password. The system can assign the

faculty on the appropriate subject. The system only covers Scheduling and Loading

System. The system is design through the use of the Microsoft Visual Studio. It is

runnable only on the windows computers. Only the administrators or the principal are the

authorized personnel that can operate the system. It is also only for the Elementary and

High School Department.

Significance of the Study

The significance of the research is the following:

The Future Researcher. The researcher is intended to help this school in making

the schedule and loading immediately and to solve the problems that occurred on the

current system.

The Principal. The principal will be assisted in this study as this will reduce the

burden in creating the schedule for the subjects and specially allocating classrooms.

The Student and the Faculty. The student and faculty member will benefit in

this research since the delay cause of conflicts on scheduling and loading of subjects will

be avoided.

Kabankalan Catholic College. The school will also benefit in this study because

of the modernized technology that will be acquired.
