Jawaharlal Institute Of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research, popularly known as
JIPMER 2019 is an institute of national importance under Ministry of Health & Family
Welfare, Government of India. It is one of the medical entrance of highest importance in
India. JIPMER 2019 is a computer based online entrance test conducted for MBBS
programme, across various cities, enlisted in the official site. There are two college
campuses of JIPMER, one in Puducherry and other in Karaikal. Jawaharlal Institute of
Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry (JIPMER) under Government
of India since the year 1956, is one of the leading Medical Institutions of India, whereas
JIPMER has started its JIPMER Karaikal, from the academic session 2016-17 with a
yearly intake of 50 students. There are no seats available through AIPMT/NEET or AIIMS
to get into JIPMER. One needs to clear JIPMER 2019 only for this. The entrance
examination is held once a year in June in Pondicherry, Chennai, Vijayawada,
Hyderabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Thiruvananthapuram and other metropolitan cities for
admission to the MBBS course that commences from July of the same year. Check all

JIPMER 2019
JIPMER MBBS Entrance Exam 2019 is necessary to be taken in order to pursue MBBS
course of 4 years and 6 months as per the Academic Calendar of JIPMER followed by
ONE year of Compulsory Rotatory Internship for the award of degree. JIPMER 2019 is
conducted for students to avail themselves 200 Seats (150 seats at JIPMER, Puducherry
and 50 seats at JIPMER, Karaikal)

Eligibility Criteria

The Applicant should be an Indian National / Overseas Citizen of India.


He/She has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the
age on or before 31st December 2019, the year of his/her admission to the 1st year
M.B.B.S., i.e. they should have been born on or before 01-01-2002. Though, there is
no upper age limit.
Applicants should have passed the qualifying examinations of 10+2 higher/ senior
secondary examination. The Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination
other than those
mentioned above will have to submit an Eligibility Certificate before admission is
finalized. Obtaining such an Eligibility Certificate from Association of Indian
Universities, New Delhi is essential for OCI/NRI for admission to JIPMER M.B.B.S.
Course.
Applicants must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology /
Bio-technology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 60%
marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology at the
qualifying examination.
Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribe or Other
Backward Classes / OPH the minimum marks obtained in the Physics, Chemistry,
Biology/ Bio-technology taken together in the qualifying examination is 50%.

Registration

The registration process for JIPMER 2019 will be solely online. Candidates can log on to
the link in the Home page of www.jipmer.puducherry.gov.in and can look for the link
“Apply on-line MBBS admission – 2019”. Before applying, candidates must read the
prospectus carefully. Any false information being provided on candidate’s side may lead
to cancellation of the application.

The applicant can choose any one of the three modes of payment, that are Net banking,
Credit card or Debit Card to pay the application fees. Application fees for each category
is different. For General/ OBC, it is 1500 INR + Transaction charges; for SC/STs, it is
1200 INR +Transaction charges and for NRIs, it is 3000 INR +Transaction charges. OPH
category is exempted from paying the application fees. Candidate must upload
photograph and signature of correct specified size. One must not make any mistake
while uploading signature and photograph. Any changes in the amount of registration
fees will be made known for the year 2019.

JIPMER 2019 Exam Details

This JIPMER exam is conducted through a Computer based test only. The entrance
generally happens in the first week of June and mostly on weekends. The duration of
the examination shall be two and a half hours (Two hours and Thirty minutes). The
Online (CBT) Entrance Examination is conducted in single/two shifts. In single shift, the
time period is from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, whereas in two shifts, there are basically
two-time slots that a candidate can opt for. One is morning shift / first shift, starting
from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and then there is an afternoon shift (03:00 PM to 05:30
PM). The venue, time and shift of the examination are passed on to the candidates via
the Hall Ticket. No candidate will be allowed to appear in the examination unless he/she
holds a valid “Hall ticket” issued by the Institute and a proof of their identification.

Exam Pattern

The exam will be conducted in English medium only. The JIPMER 2019 is common to all
and consists of 200 single best response type MCQs having four alternatives and the
questions will be asked from the following subjects – Physics, Chemistry, Biology,
English Language & Comprehension and Logical & Quantitative Reasoning, estimating
the total number of marks to be 200. Each answer with correct response shall be
awarded four marks. Zero marks will be given for the question not answered. For wrong
answers, one mark will be deducted. The syllabus is as prescribed by State Board Hr.
Sec. and CBSE for XI & XII Standards.

JIPMER Preparation Syllabus

For preparing for JIPMER 2019, one needs to be thorough with NCERT class 11 & 12
science books, along with some other extra materials. It is advised not to refer too
many books. Use one book for theory and one for problem-solving of each subject. We

taking mock tests and solve past years papers, sample papers to analyze your
preparation. Candidates need to chart their preparation in order to plan accordingly. One
must divide his/her time equally for all subjects. When you are most alert, give time to
your weak areas.

Merit Lists

Soon after the evaluation of answer sheets are done, JIPMER authorities start releasing
the merit lists. It generally happens before the mid of June. Selected candidates are
then called for counselling rounds. Candidates must reach the allotted venue for
counselling at the allotted time slot. Requests for changing of campuses would not be
entertained.

Counselling

Once the JIPMER 2019 results are out counselling dates are announced for various
categories. Sliding of campuses are not allowed from one round of counselling to the
other. Generally, counselling rounds starts from the last week of June and end by last
week of July.The dates and eligible candidates shall be notified in JIPMER website and
no personal intimation will be sent for the same. In the final counseling, all candidates
who are eligible by the merit list can attend this round of counseling, irrespective of
their previous attendance.
