Chapter 3partial

The researchers used a descriptive method to gather data through surveys on the current system. They surveyed 270 students from the College of Accountancy and Economics, with 135 from the Accountancy program and 135 from Economics, which was determined to be the necessary sample size using Slovin's formula. Simple random sampling was used to select respondents so that every student had an equal probability of being selected.

Chapter 3

Method of Research

The researchers have used the Descriptive Method which involves data
gathering to obtain information regarding the concerned phenomenon that is being
studied. This methodology focuses more on describing the nature of a demographic
segment of the study without focusing on why a certain phenomenon occurs.

Under this method, the researchers gathered information of the current system
through survey. With the used of survey method, the researchers are able to gather
data on the behaviour, practices, opinions, interest and perceptions of the users on the
proposed system. Later on such data are analyzed, organized and interpreted.

Population, Sample size and Sampling Technique

Population

The researchers used the current number of students who are enrolled in the
College of Accountancy and Economics as the basis of population for the study which
the researchers can derive the number of respondents needed to answer the
survey.(See table 1.0)

College of Accountancy and Economics

College Number of students Percent

enrolled

Accountancy 400 48%

Economics 430 52%

Total 830 100%

Sample size

The researcher used the Slovin’s Formula to provide the number of respondents
needed to answer the survey. Using the population of the students enrolled in the
College of Accountancy and Economics, the researchers determined the number of
respondents needed, where random sampling is used to provide the sample size.

Respondents of the study

The respondents of the study include the accountancy and economics students
wherein the researchers prepare to set of carefully prepared and logically ordered
questions. This respondent focuses on the students for they are the very important
matter in this study. (See table 2.0)

Economics 135 50%

Sampling Technique

The research used Simple random sampling to know the total number of the
respondents. By using this kind of method every single element in the population can be
selected as a part of the respondents. Meaning to say all students in the given
population have an equal probability to be selected as a repondents.
