Syllabus Advt 2-2018

The MOTO MP RACE event involves navigating a manual robot through multiple rounds of obstacles on an arena course. The event has 3 rounds and tests participants' skills in operating robots to complete hurdles like slopes, speed bumps, and rotating discs within the shortest time. Only the top 16 teams from Round 1 advance to Round 2, which includes additional challenges like shortcuts and mazes. Round 3 is the elimination round where teams retrace the course through harsher obstacles to determine the top 3 winners. General rules specify robot dimensions, safety protocols, and that teams can have up to 4 members each.

MOTO MP RACE

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Solving real life problems with locomotion and interaction with the environment
keeping in mind a motive to reduce human efforts is robotics. The event has motive
to judge and appreciate the skills of participates to solve real life problems with the
tool as robots.

This is a realistic event to test the innovation and skill of the participants.

TASK

The task is to operate a manual robot by completing all the hurdles as well as
checkpoints. In this event the participants need to bring creativity in their thoughts
related to the event. And the most expensive thing in this gameplay is Total Time.

GAMEPLAY:

The game play comprises of 3 rounds with one qualifying round.

Arena layout:
Round 1(Time basis ):

 Round 1 starts with a downward slope having gap between tracks joining to
a platform having hurdle which are hemispherical balls, stones, sand,
pebbles, etc.
 The path leads to speed breaker as a next hurdle.
 After crossing the hurdle no. 2 there will be a sandy path which leads to oily
track surface.
 Just after the oily track there is curve path.
 After the curve ends there will be a see-saw as hurdle.
 Round 1 ends just after accomplishing the last hurdle as SEE-SAW.
NOTE: Only 16 teams will be selected from round 1 for the next round.
Round 2:

 Round 2 starts with the Teams qualifying round 1. Robots are required to
retrace the path from starting position.
 Racing path leads to a wedge having gap between the path. The path leads to
the valley .
 After crossing the valley there is a shortcut having the path consisting of a
pond of water with moving rollers.
 If participants does not take shortcut path then there will be a wire mesh
bridge which lead to a curve having a flap which participants have to push to
complete the path.
 The path leads to staircase.
 Round 2 ends just before the tunnel.
Round 3(Elimination round):

 Round 3 starts with more competition and enthalpy. Teams are required to
start from the beginning and retrace the preceding path. Path after staircase
have some harsh nature to share with robot. There will a tunnel which leads
to maze hurdle.
 After the maze hurdle there will a curve having a block which will complete
the common path.
 In the common path there will be a number of blocks lying. These blocks
are in scripted with an answer of a secrete puzzle.
 Puzzles are given to a member of the team. He is responsible to solve and
get to the answer in order to make right choice of block to pick. After
picking the block robot becomes responsible to place the block at the
finishing line.
 Ahead in the path there is a rotating disc waiting to juggle up the mind and
hands of the participate.
 Round 3 ends giving up top three teams who made it possible to reach finish
area leaving all behind.
 The block has a dimension of 5cmx5cmx5cm with (+-) 1 cm tolerance.
The diameter of the disc is 0.55 metres or 55 cm.

Path of arena has various hurdles (horizontal, vertical motion hurdles and
sliders and rotating discs)to create difficulty for the robot.

Width of the whole path is 30 cm and the common area is of 55 cm.

GENERAL RULES:

 Each team can have maximum 4 members.

 Each team must register online and claim their respective team IDs after the
payment of Registration fees at the arena 1 hour prior to the event starts.
The registration desk will be close after 2:30P.M on the day of the event.
NO REGISTRATION AFTER THE DEADLINE WILL BE
ENTERTAINED AT ANY COST.
 Only 1 time out will be given to the each team at the time of their run. Time
out will be of 2 minutes. only for the first and second round there is no time
out for third and fourth round.
 Robot going out of the track will be given penalty in the form of keeping
the bots to previous checkpoints.
 If the robot is not able to clear the hurdle then it can skip the hurdle, penalty
of 10sec will be imposed On every skip.
 Coordinators have the right to disqualify the robot whose working
mechanism or game strategy is considered hazardous in any way.
 Team members if found misbehaving on the arena will be disqualified then
and there.
 The robot must be of the specified dimension i.e.25x25x25cms. The final
product must fit in to the dimension box either vertically or horizontally to
get clearance to participate in the particular event.
 Members are not allowed to jump over the race tracks, failing to which the
team will be disqualified.
Each and every participating team should have valid college ID cards.
Decision of organizing team will be final.
NOTE: Members are not allowed to jump over the race tracks, failing to
which the team will be disqualified.

Registration fees for this event is RS300/-

SPECIFICATIONS

DIMENSIONS AND FABRICATIONS

1. The robot should fit in the dimension box of dimension 25cm*25cm*25cm

(l*b*h) at any given point during the match. The external device used to
control the machine is not included in the size constraint.
2. The robot can extend its dimension during the match but it has to be in the
given dimension before start of the event or at the time of dimensioning.
3. Weight limits of bot is 3-4 kg.

MOBILITY

All robots must have easily visible and controlled mobility in order to
compete. Methods of mobility include:

1. Rolling (wheels, tracks or the whole robot). Non-wheeled robots having no

rolling elements in contact with the floor or any continuous rolling or cam
operated motion in contact with the floor, either directly or via a linkage.
Motion is "continuous" if continuous operation of the drive motor(s)
produces continuous motion of the robot. Linear-actuated legs and novel
non-wheeled drive systems come under this category.

2. Jumping and hopping is not allowed.

3. Flying (using airfoil, helium balloons, ornithopters, etc.) is not allowed.

ROBOT CONTROL REQUIREMENTS

1. The machine can be controlled through wired or wireless remote. Refer

below for further details on battery and power.

2. Remote control systems from toys might be used. Remote control

systems available in the market may also be used.

BATTERY AND POWER

1. The electric voltage between 2 points anywhere in the machine should not
be more than 24 V AC/DC at any point during the game play.

2. All efforts must be made to protect battery terminals from a direct short and
causing a battery fire, failure to do so will cause direct disqualification.

3. Use of damaged, non-leak proof batteries may lead to disqualification.

4. Special care should be taken to protect the on-board batteries.

Change of battery will not be allowed during the match.

SAFETY RULES

1. Compliance with all event rules is mandatory. It is expected that competitors

stay within the rules and procedures of their own accord and do not require
constant policing.

2. Each event has safety inspections. It is at their sole discretion that your robot
is allowed to compete. As a builder you are obligated to disclose all operating
principles and potential dangers to the inspection staff.

3. Proper activation and deactivation of robots is critical. Robots must only be

activated in the arena, testing areas, or with expressed consent of the event
coordinators.
4. All participants build and operate robots at their own risk. There is no
amount of regulation that can encompass all the dangers involved. Please take
care to not hurt yourself or others when building, testing and competing.

5. Any kind of activity (repairing, battery handling, etc.) which may cause
damage to the surroundings during the stay of the teams in the competition area
should not be carried out without the consent of organizers. Not following this
rule may result in disqualification.

All the resources provided at the time of competition from the organizers
should be strictly used only after the consent of the organizer.
