1.0 Purpose:
This Method Statement is designed to give guidance for Installation Domestic water filtration system.
2.0 Scope:
To install Domestic water filtration system – Carbon Activated filter and Multimedia filter.
3.0 Reference:
1. MEP Specification
Part 3 - Section 28 – Domestic water filtration system.
2. Relevant Architectural, Structural & MEP Drawings
4.0 Material:
1. Domestic water Multimedia Filter – 2 set.

2. Domestic water Carbon Activated Filter – 2 set.

6.0 Procedure:
6. a. Storage.
I. Filtration sets shall be carefully off-loaded at site storage yard using necessary manpower / Boom
loader etc. in such a way that no damage is caused to these materials.
II. Material will be inspected at off-loading point for any physical damage and comply to specifications
as per the approved materials sheets.
III. Materials shall be stored in a place free of water and adequately covered to avoid any kind of
damages and to be properly identified.
IV. Filter vessels and accessories will be stored on a proper pallet or wooden / card board boxes. All
sets to be covered properly to avoid the entry of foreign particles.
V. Filter vessel and related fillings shall be shifted nearest to the work place using 3 Ton truck/vehicle.
6. b. Preparation:
i) Drawings for installation are approved & co-ordinated with other services.
ii) Location / Area are cleared for commencement of installation of piping.
iii) Plinth finishing and piping to the system are in completed stage.
6. c. Installation:
i. Only specified and approved make of Water filter (Multimedia Filter and Carbon activated
Filter) shall be used.
ii. Installation shall be as per approved drawings and as per manufacturer’s recommendation.
iii. All Water filter (Multimedia Filter and Carbon activated Filter) shall be new / unused and
capacity as indicated on the approved drawings and material submittal.

iv. The Water filter (Multimedia Filter and Carbon activated Filter) should be placed in a well-
ventilated room to ensure adequate cooling of the system.
v. The Water filter (Multimedia Filter and Carbon activated Filter) does not require a special
foundation, but it should be positioned on a concrete plinth of min. 150mm height
vi. All structural work required must have been carried out accordance with the dimensions
stated in the dimension table / general arrangement drawing. The concrete foundations shall
have sufficient strength. Make sure that the concrete foundation has set firmly before placing
the unit on it. Its surface shall be truly horizontal and even.
Installation of multimedia Filter:
a) Position the Filtration tank to the locations as per shop drawing and ensure proper clearance
available or the maintenance of the same.
b) Install the valve head and it panel in position on the Filter vessel without any filling. Ensure the
panel values are readable and free from obstruction.
c) Start with piping with filters in & out connection and Back wash connection. Ensure unions are
provided for all connections and required valves as per manufacturer recommendation.
d) Once connections are made ensure sufficient support to the connecting pipes and valves so
the valve head does not have load of same.
e) With valves closed proceed for hydrostatic testing of the pipe line to ensure no leaks in the
system.
f) Keep all the valves in shut condition remove the union joints and make the Valve head free
from connections.
g) Under the supervision of the Filter supplier sand filling to be done.
h) As per instruction the fillings are done in levels/volume as mentioned by manufacturer.
i) The Filter panel is connected with single phase supply and to be switched on and
commissioned by supplier.

Installation of Carbon activated Filer:
a) Position the Filtration tank to the locations as per shop drawing and ensure proper clearance
available or the maintenance of the same.
b) Install the valve head and it panel in position on the Filter vessel without any filling. Ensure the
panel values are readable and free from obstruction.
c) Start with piping with filters in & out connection and Back wash connection. Ensure unions are
provided for all connections and required valves as per manufacturer recommendation.
d) Once connections are made ensure sufficient support to the connecting pipes and valves so
the valve head does not have load of same.
e) With valves closed proceed for hydrostatic testing of the pipe line to ensure no leaks in the
system.

g) Under the supervision of the Filter supplier Carbon filling to be done.
h) As per instruction the fillings are done in levels/volume as mentioned by manufacturer.
i) Once filling are completed the valve head is connected and the vessel is ready for the testing
and commissioning activity.
j) The Filter panel is connected with single phase supply and to be switched on and
commissioned by supplier.
7.0 Quality Control:
The QC Engineer) at site will ensure quality at all stage of project from delivery of Material, storage,
installation, Testing and till Handing over.

8.0 Inspection and testing:
After completion of Domestic Water Filtration system installation, the same shall be raised for
consultant’s inspection.
9.0 Safety Measures:
During the installation & testing, all safety precautions shall be followed as per the established Project
safety plan.
10.0 Risk assessment:

The risks involved during installation and testing shall be assessed and recorded through Hazard
identification risk assessment sheet and mitigation measure shall be strictly ensured at site.
