We realize that higher education is a significant investment, and we are committed to attracting and
educating exceptionally talented students from around the world. NYU Abu Dhabi provides financial
support in the form of scholarships and grants. Every admitted student will be automatically
considered for merit-based scholarships.

Our aim is to attract the best possible students regardless of financial circumstances. If you are
admitted, our priority is to work with you and your family to make it possible for you to attend. NYU
Abu Dhabi will tailor our generous financial support programs to your individual needs. Financial
support will ensure that the cost of attendance does not require you or your family to take on debt to
support the cost of your education. Your family's finances should not affect your decision to select
NYU Abu Dhabi even if you are considering low or no cost public education alternatives or are the
recipient of generous financial support from another institution.

All applicants who wish to receive need-based financial support must complete and submit the
CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE application by the preferred deadline.  NYU Abu Dhabi accepts application
for financial support for all students, regardless of citizenship.

Financial support applies to the full cost of an NYU Abu Dhabi education, including foreign travel and
study integral to a student's academic program.

Please be aware that a student's economic background will not influence our admissions decision. The
NYU Abu Dhabi admissions process is "need-blind."

NYU Abu Dhabi Financial Support

Frequently Asked Questions
What is financial support?
At NYU Abu Dhabi, financial support is different from other programs providing financial aid or
financial assistance to college students. NYU Abu Dhabi tailors its generous financial support
programs to a student’s individual needs. Your family's finances should not affect your decision to
select NYU Abu Dhabi even if you are considering low or no cost public education alternatives or
are the recipient of generous financial support from another institution. All financial support at
NYU Abu Dhabi is in the form of scholarships and grants, including both merit and need-based
support. Student or other loans are not part of the financial support package at NYU Abu Dhabi.

What does NYU Abu Dhabi’s financial support cover?

Based on your eligibility, NYU Abu Dhabi’s generous financial support can cover not only the full
cost of an NYU Abu Dhabi education, including tuition, foreign travel and study integral to a
student’s academic program, room and board, and two trips to and from home each year, but also
books and many student life activities. Students who file the financial support application and are
identified as eligible to receive financial assistance will not need to take out loans (incur debt) to
cover the cost of an NYU Abu Dhabi education.

What kind of financial support is available?

All financial support at NYU Abu Dhabi is in the form of scholarships and grants (as opposed to
loans), including both merit- and need-based support.

What is the difference between merit- and need-based financial support?

Merit-based support is given to students regardless of their family’s financial circumstances; this
support is based exclusively on a student’s outstanding record of academic and related
accomplishments. Need-based support is given to students who qualify, based on their family’s
financial circumstances, for financial support.
How do I receive a merit-based scholarship?
All admitted students will be considered for merit-based scholarships. No separate financial
support application is required for students solely interested in being considered for merit-based
scholarships.

How do I receive need-based support?

In order to apply for need-based support, you must complete and submit the CSS/Financial Aid
PROFILE application. NYU Abu Dhabi accepts this application for all students, regardless of
citizenship. Information on application deadlines and steps necessary to complete the PROFILE
application as well as a link to the PROFILE web site are available under “Financial Support” on the
NYU Abu Dhabi web site.

Am I required to apply for financial support?

If you wish to be considered for need-based financial support, you must complete the PROFILE
application. You are not required to apply for financial support to be considered for a merit-based
scholarship.

I’m not sure if my family will qualify for financial support. Should I apply for it anyway?
Yes. NYU Abu Dhabi will tailor its generous financial support programs to a student’s individual
need. Our financial support program will give consideration to a broad range of family situations
and financial scenarios to ensure that families do not need to take on debt to pay for an NYU Abu
Dhabi education.

Will I qualify for financial support if I am an international student (non-U.S. citizen)?

Yes. All applicants will be considered for financial support regardless of country of citizenship.

Will my financial support application affect my application for admission?

No. At NYU Abu Dhabi financial support and admission decisions are made independent of one
another. Therefore, a family’s financial situation will not be considered until after the admission
decision has been made.

I am a US citizen/permanent resident and am applying to NYU in New York and would also like to
be considered for NYU Abu Dhabi; should I fill out a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student
Aid), in addition to the CSS PROFILE application?
Yes. The PROFILE application will be used to determine the financial needs of students applying to
NYU Abu Dhabi while the FAFSA will be used to determine the financial need of NYU in New York
applicants. For more information, please visit NYU’s FAFSA information page.

Is financial support renewable for all four years at NYU Abu Dhabi?
Generally speaking, the answer is “yes” unless a family’s financial circumstances changes
dramatically.  Family financial information must be submitted by the preferred deadline annually
through the PROFILE application in order for our records to be up to date. In addition, students also
must remain in good academic standing in order to receive financial support.

When should I fill out the financial support application? Do I have to be admitted to fill out the
financial support application?
You should complete and submit the financial support application soon after you have submitted
your application for admission. Do NOT wait to submit the PROFILE application until you have
received an admission decision. The admissions decisions are “need-blind,” we won’t look at your
financial support application until after you have been admitted to NYU Abu Dhabi. It is important
that we have the PROFILE application on file, however, so that we can review the application in a
timely fashion and get you the financial support information you need to make an informed
decision about attending NYU Abu Dhabi.
NYU Abu Dhabi Admissions FAQs

How does NYU Abu Dhabi decide which students to admit?

Admission to NYU Abu Dhabi is highly selective. Students will be admitted based on academic
excellence, extra-curricular activities, and demonstrated interest in global citizenship, service, and
leadership.

Are there minimum standardized test scores (for example, SAT, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS) required for
admission?
No, NYU Abu Dhabi does not utilize numerical cut-offs when we evaluate applications for admission.
Having said that, you should also know that admission to NYU Abu Dhabi is very competitive. As a
general rule, applicants with the strongest academic programs, the highest grades, and the highest
test scores, are those most likely to be offered admission.

Which standardized test scores do I need to submit for my application?

NYU Abu Dhabi allows students to present their best case for consideration for admission.  We
welcome you to marshal evidence of admissibility by providing official results of any standardized test
that you have completed.  Please note that NYU Abu Dhabi accepts International Baccalaureate test
results as an option, as well as A-level scores. While your test scores are an important part of your
application and provide us with a better sense of your preparedness to succeed at NYU Abu Dhabi
(including your English language proficiency), they are not the only deciding factor of your application

Will NYU Abu Dhabi consider my International Baccalaureate (IB) scores?

Yes, the International Baccalaureate Diploma (predicted result followed up by official verification) will
satisfy NYU Abu Dhabi's standardized test requirement. NYU Abu Dhabi will consider Higher Level
Exams of the IB completed with grades of 6 or 7. Consideration will not be given to Standard Level
Exams. NYU Abu Dhabi will make an admission decision using a student's predicted IB scores,
although if a student's final test results vary greatly from the predicted results, NYU Abu Dhabi
reserves the right to withdraw admission.

What's most important in the admissions decision?

NYUAD looks at the student's entire application: grades, test scores, extra-curricular work,
recommendations, etc. There is no single most important element to the application.

Does NYU Abu Dhabi take into consideration the difficulty of a particular curriculum or different
high school grading policies when making admissions decisions?
Yes. We encourage students to take the most challenging curriculum available to them, because when
we evaluate your record, we consider the rigor of the program you've completed.

Is admission open to all?

Yes. Admissions is "need blind," and students are chosen based on their academic potential and
qualifications according to the same standards, including non-discrimination standards, that govern
admission to NYU New York. A student's economic background does not influence our admission
decision.

How important are letters of recommendation?

The letters of recommendation are extremely important because they give the admissions committee
an idea of how the student performs both inside and outside of the classroom from a professional
who knows them well These letters should not be shared with the student or his/her family prior to
submission, and will be read closely by the admissions committee.

Does NYU Abu Dhabi Accept the Common Application?

Yes. In addition to the Common Application, applicants to NYU Abu Dhabi must also submit the NYU
Supplement to the Common Application. An application to NYU Abu Dhabi will not be considered
complete until we have received BOTH pieces of the application.

If you complete the online version of the Common Application, you must submit the online version
of the NYU supplement (available on the Common Application website).

Likewise, if you complete the paper application, you must complete the paper version of the NYU
Supplement that can be downloaded from our website.

Can I apply online?

Yes, you may apply online using the Common Application
Can I apply to NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU New York at the same time?
Applicants to NYU New York who are also interested in being considered for admission to NYU Abu
Dhabi may check a box on the application to indicate that they wish to be considered for NYU Abu
Dhabi.

Applicants who are solely interested in admission to NYU Abu Dhabi simply need to check the NYU
Abu Dhabi box on their admission application.

How important are deadlines?

Deadlines are extremely important. We cannot guarantee that we will read applications submitted
after the deadline date, even if only one piece of the application is missing. Therefore, we highly
recommend submitting your application and all supporting documents as early as possible. If you
foresee a delay in submitting any of your supporting documents, please contact the NYU Abu Dhabi
admissions office to discuss your particular situation. Knowing the deadline dates, you should plan the
dates for your standardized tests accordingly and give your recommenders plenty of time to complete
their letters of recommendation.

Should I schedule an interview?

Not all applicants will have the opportunity to participate in an admissions interview. As part of the
admissions process, all qualified candidates will be invited to meet with members of the admissions
committee during a Candidate Weekend, which will take place in Abu Dhabi. All eligible candidates
will be contacted by NYU Abu Dhabi to arrange for this visit.

Whenever possible, we encourage all applicants to visit the NYU Abu Dhabi campus or attend an
information session in their city or region.

Are there any other requirements I should know about?

In addition to your application, all candidates are required to have a valid passport. If candidates are
chosen to participate in a Candidate Weekend they will need to be able to travel to Abu Dhabi. While
NYU Abu Dhabi will assist with the visa process for all admitted or invited candidates, candidates must
ensure that they have a valid passport for travel.

When will I hear if I have been accepted?

Applicants to NYU Abu Dhabi who apply for Early Decision I will receive an admissions decision by
mid-December; those applying Early Decision II will receive a decision by mid-February; and those
who apply Regular Decision will be notified on or about April 1st.

Abu Dhabi will tailor our generous financial support programs to your individual needs. Financial
support will ensure that the cost of attendance does not require you or your family to take on debt to
support the cost of your education. Your family's finances should not affect your decision to select

recipient of generous financial support from another institution. In addition, that support will apply
not only to the cost of attendance, but also to many activities and opportunities available to NYU Abu
Dhabi students.

FINANCIAL AID

The cost of a college education is a matter of concern for many students and their families. Regardless
of your family's financial circumstances, paying for college will probably require a substantial
commitment of your resources over the next several years. It may surprise you to learn that most full-
time undergraduate students at New York University would not be able to pay their educational costs
without financial assistance. These students are able to attend NYU only because they applied for and
received financial aid.

If you feel that you and your family will be unable to meet the cost of an NYU education with family
resources alone, you should apply for financial aid. Although NYU is unable to meet the full need of
every student, despite a healthy $2.161 billion endowment (which ranks 31st in the nation, the
endowment per student is only $62,053, a rate that places it 202nd in the country), we will do
everything possible to make an NYU education financially feasible for you.

If you believe you will need financial assistance to enable you to attend NYU, we strongly encourage
you to apply for financial aid. Your decision to apply for financial aid will have no bearing on the
admissions decision. The links on the right will help guide you through this process.

The NYU Office of Financial Aid website contains extensive information that can help you through the
application process and beyond. Click here to visit NYU's Financial Aid Office.

How and When To Apply

The only form you need to apply for all NYU and federal aid is the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA). You MUST list "New York University" as a recipient and write NYU's school code number
(002785) on your FAFSA.

There are two options for filing the FAFSA:

1. File electronically over the Internet, which is the quickest and most efficient process, via the FAFSA
website at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

OR

2. Complete the paper version of the FAFSA, which can usually be obtained from your high school or
college or by calling 1-800-4-FED-AID.

Note: The FAFSA for the upcoming academic year will not be available for completion until January
1st. Do not complete or submit the previous year's FAFSA if you plan to enter NYU in September.

The method you use to apply for financial aid will not affect either the size or the composition of your
financial aid award. However, we strongly recommend that you complete the FAFSA electronically.
FAFSA information submitted electronically will reach us more quickly, and because of online edits,
your Student Aid Report (SAR) is more likely to be accurate and complete. Please note the following
important points concerning the financial aid process at NYU:

 There are no separate NYU applications for merit scholarships. All students who are offered
admission are automatically considered for merit awards.

 You should not send letters or supporting documents (such as tax returns) unless asked to do
so by the NYU Office of Financial Aid. Unnecessary paperwork actually delays the financial aid
award process.

 Students applying for admission to any NYU school, college, or program in New York City
should not use PROFILE, the financial aid application service of the College Board. However,
students applying to NYU Abu Dhabi who wish to be considered for financial support must
submit the PROFILE application, and are not required to submit a FAFSA.
 U.S. permanent residents must be in possession of their alien registration number and their
green card at the time they file the FAFSA. International students should not file the FAFSA.

Do not wait to be admitted to apply for financial aid. For priority consideration you should submit
your FAFSA as follows:

Fall or Summer Semester Entry

Freshman Early Decision: November 15th

Freshman Early Decision II: January 15th

Freshman Regular Decision: February 15th
