Task 1 - Configure Basic Setup

The document outlines tasks to configure basic network setup, native VLAN, and VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP) on a switched network. The basic setup tasks include changing switch hostnames, configuring access ports and VLAN 100, enabling dot1q and ISL trunking between switches, and verifying IP connectivity between PCs. The native VLAN task is to configure trunk links to not tag traffic for VLAN 999. The VTP tasks are to configure SW3 as the VTP server, SW1 and SW2 as clients, SW4 as transparent, use the password "CCNAPASS!", and verify VTP status and VLAN tables before and after configuration.

Task 1 - Configure Basic Setup

• Change hostnames on all devices as topology except PC1 & PC2.

• Configure ports Ethernet0/1 on SW1 and SW2 to be access ports
in VLAN 100 and create VLAN 100 on SW3 and SW4.
• Configure trunking encapsulation between SW1, SW2, and SW3 as
dot1q trunk ports.
• All inter-switch links to be in the dynamic state.
o SW1' Ethernet 0/0 and Ethernet0/2 should be dot1q.
o SW2' Ethernet 0/0 and SW3' Ethernet 0/2 should be
waiting state.
• Configure trunking encapsulation between SW2, SW3, and SW4 as
isl trunk ports.
• SW4' Ethernet 0/0 and Ethernet0/2 should be static isl.
• SW2' Ethernet 0/2 and SW3' Ethernet 0/0 should be waiting
state.
• Configure ip address on PC1 and PC2 as below
• PC1 - 192.168.1.100
• PC2 - 192.168.1.200
• For verification,
• test that PC1 and PC2 have IPv4 reachability to each
other over VLAN 100.

Task - 2 - Native VLAN

• Configure the switches so that traffic between devices in

VLAN 999 is not tagged when sent over the trunk links.

Task - 3 - VLAN Trunking Protocol [VTP]

• Configure SW3 as a VTP server in the domain named CCNAVTP.
• All switches should be VTP version 2.
• Configure SW1 and SW2 as VTP clients in the domain CCNAVTP.
• Configure SW4 as VTP transparent in the domain CCNAVTP.
• Authenticate VTP messages using the string of CCNAPASS!.
• Before you configure VTP feature on switches, Verify the VTP
status and VLAN Table.
