Eligibility Criteria: Application Part 1 and Part 2 Fellowship Examinations

Part 1

Candidates are qualified to sit for the Part 1 Fellowship Examination at the end of the first 24 to 36 months
of Residency training (Junior Residency). This examination is administered to test cognitive knowledge
and basic professional skills in the relevant discipline represented by each Faculty.

The format for this examination varies from Faculty to Faculty and details are provided in each Faculty’s
Handbook.

Documents required to be uploaded by candidates applying for Part 1 NPMCN Fellowship Examinations
include the following:

1. Passport Photograph (Colour) in JPEG Format taken in the last six (6) months in front of a plain white or
off-white background and in full-face view directly facing the camera

2. Basic Medical or Dental Degree Certificate (To be uploaded in PDF Single Page)

3. NYSC Discharge or Exemption from NYSC Certificate/Letter (To be uploaded in PDF Single Page)

4. MDCN FULL Registration Certificate/Receipt of Payment for MDCN FULL Registration Certificate (To be
uploaded in PDF Single Page)

5. Current Annual Practicing License/Receipt (To be uploaded in PDF Single Page)

6. NPMCN Fellow’s Recommendation Form (To be uploaded in PDF Single Page)

7. NPMCN Primary Result or NPMCN Certificate of Exemption (To be uploaded in PDF Single Page)

8. Certificate of Training (valid for TWO years/maximum of 4 consecutive Examinations). However, form
should be freshly completed and signed for each examination (To be uploaded in PDF Multiple Pages
[Where applicable])

9. Clinical Log Book/Field Posting Log Book where applicable (To be uploaded in PDF Multiple Pages)

10. Up-to-date Evidence of ALL Payments for Associate Fellowship Annual Subscription (AFAS) (To be
uploaded in PDF Multiple Pages)

11. Annual Progress Report Year 1 (To be uploaded in PDF Multiple Pages [Minimum of Six (6) pages to
include endorsement by HOD and CMAC/CMD])

12. Annual Progress Report Year 2 (To be uploaded in PDF Multiple Pages [Minimum of Six (6) pages to
include endorsement by HOD and CMAC/CMD])

13. Update/Revision Course as specified by Faculty, but minimum time validity should be anytime in the
preceding year (To be uploaded in PDF Multiple Pages [Where applicable])

14. Institutional Approval Form for NPMCN Examination (To be uploaded in PDF Multiple Pages [To include

Part 2

Candidates are qualified to sit for Part 2 Fellowship Examination after passing Part 1 and a further 24 to
48 months of Residency Training (Senior Residency) with considerable responsibility for professional
judgement and problem solving. It aims to test the candidates’ readiness for the responsibilities of
leadership in the specialty. Those who pass are eligible to be appointed as Consultants.

The format for this examination varies from Faculty to Faculty and details are provided in each Faculty’s
Handbook.

Documents required to be uploaded by candidates applying for Part 2 NPMCN Fellowship Examinations
include the following:

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Candidates can sit for Part 2 examination only after a minimum of 1 year after proposal
assessment approval is obtained.
• Update courses (for both Parts I and II) have minimum validity of anytime in the preceding year,
i.e. at the time the candidate is seating for the examination the update course certificate should
not be later than the preceding year.
