consideration must be given to three
elements (Yoder pp. 24):
– The theory used to predict the
failure/distress parameter,
– The evaluation of the pertinent material
properties necessary for the theory
selected, and
– The determination of the relationship b/n
the magnitude of the parameter in question
to the failure or performance level desired.
