Common Tools Used in Welding

Welding Plier - A single tool designed for six functions which include nozzle and tip
installation, wire cutting, nozzle cleaning, slag hammer and spatter removal. The welding
pliers are drop forged steel constructed and come with a form fitting handle.

Steel Wire Brush – a tool consisting of a brush whose bristles are made of wire, most
often steel wire and is used for cleaning the welding surface, removal of slag, rust etc.

Angle Grinder – a handheld power tool used for grinding (abrasive cutting) and polishinga

Welding Chipping Hammer – a tool used to remove welding slag from


a weld and welding spatter from along side welds.
Welding Safety Glasses – provide a degree of eye protection while some forms
of welding and cutting are being done.

Welding Gloves – protect the hands of welders from the hazards of welding.

Vise Grips – pliers that can be locked into position, using an over-center action.

Grounding Clamps – will help protect you from unwanted electric shocks.

Auto-Darkening Helmet – shield your eyes when arc-welding as the light can burn your
eyes and do some permanent damage.
