Concept Statement
• The design for Eric's home will follow his style of Bauhaus. His home will have a
modern, minimalistic feeling with bold pieces of abstract art, a monochromatic color scheme,
and clean lines. The space with be designed towards his love of socializing, and entertaining
friends. There will be a custom designed built – in storage piece that will showcase his soccer
collection. His home will exude a warm and inviting feeling yet remain true to his style of
minimalism. First, a monochromatic color scheme of blue hues will be chosen and incorporated
throughout the home. Second, clean lined, geometric shaped furniture will be used throughout
each space, as well as pieces of abstract art and wall art. Several different mixtures of textures
will be used throughout the home, such as smooth and rough, all staying within the
monochromatic color scheme chosen for the design. Lastly, there will be a feeling
of balance and symmetry throughout the home with the clean lined furniture, decorative arts,
and different scaled accessory pieces used throughout the space.
Color Palette
The top row of colors to the left are 4 orginal colors from the photo
above. I changed all the colors, customizing them to fit the
Original Color Palette monochromatic color scheme that I am going with, in designing Eric's
home. The first color I changed the satsuration level by lowering it by
62%. The second color I changed by increasing the brightness by 54%.
The third color I changed by increasing the hue by 8 degrees. The last
photo I changed the color by lowering the brightness by 27%,
increasing the satsuration by 34%, and increased the hue by 23
Custom Color Palette degrees.

1204.1
Equipment and Systems Interior spaces must have proper heating system, maintaining
a temperature of 68 degrees F. The space must be
comfortable to accommodate the people dwelling there.
All Residential Design Codes play a big part in making sure that the structure of the home is up to the latest
standard . If certain codes were not followed, the electrical could be installed incorrectly, increasing the
chances of a fire. If walls, structures, such as beams were installed incorrectly, there would a big possibility
ceilings and walls caving in or even possibly collapsing. When you don't follow the codes standards you are
putting the well being of your clients at risk and even your career in design. When codes are followed to the
specifications that the Codes demand. the home owners can rest well knowing that their home is safe , and
functional to meet their standard of living and you as a designer will get a high reputation of taking care of
your clients. Knowing how important codes are in designing homes will help me in researching
and learning the different codes needed in applying them in my future design projects.
▪ One code example would be - 704.3 – Protection of the Primary Structural Frame
other than Columns.

Justifying the Solution
• How did you develop your concept for the project? What were your design goals, and how were
they achieved? How does your design reflect the culture and diversity of the client who will occupy
the space?
• The concept for the Neymar Home project was developed through research and compiling design ideas
of the Bauhaus Style, as well as reflecting on the needs of what the client expected and needed as a part of
the home design. The design goals for the project was to create continuity throughout the home with the
clients Bauhaus design style in mind. The design goals were achieved by making sure that the pieces chosen for
the home met the Bauhaus style as well as including the needs and expectations of the client. The
design reflects the culture and diversity of the client by incorporating pieces that reflect the clients style,
and including pieces of his hobbies and pieces that reflect his hobbies into the design.
• How may have working on your schematic plans led to revising some of your design decisions?
Identify how human functions and spatial relationships determined your design planning.
• By working the on the schematic plans and designing the spaces of the home, it became evident that
certain spaces would not work well for certain rooms of the home and needed to be revised to best meet the
needs of the client. When designing the Neymar home you had to be aware of how each room needed to be
used and design accordingly to meet the human functions of that particular space. If the space was being used
as an office, you needed to make sure that the space had the proper lighting for the end use, as well as
make sure the furniture pieces functioned and were going to accommodate the client as needed. When
designing the rooms of the home it was one of the top priorities to focus on the spatial relationships of each
room, to make sure that the design and flow of the home best suited the client's needs.
Reflecting
• Reflect on what you have learned in this class and discuss at least three
concepts or topics that you feel will be most helpful to you as you
continue your studies in interior design and residential planning. Discuss
the tools or exercises in this course that you feel will help you in
marketing your skills as you prepare to apply as a candidate at an entry-
level position.
• When reflecting back on Residential Design 1, I feel that the client profile,
concept statements, and spatial planning are a few that have been the most
helpful to me as I continue my journey in my studies and Interior Design
career. Being able to continue work further with Auto Cad, PowerPoint, and
working on my drawing and sketching skills I believe will help me
in marketing myself as I prepare to apply for entry level design positions in
the future.
