social behavior”. Discuss in detail how (at least one) of these ‘forces’ made an impact on
the social dance form. Be specific and reference the article accordingly. You must

Social, cultural, and economic elements changed how we view social dance today in a big way. Dance has become
something that all people can indulge in freely with other people of different cultural backgrounds and social
classes. While all 3 of these things helped impact the social dance form, I don’t think that I would consider any one
element to be more influential than the other. I think that the merging of social and cultural classes is just as
important because that’s how we pass on dances. With the intermingling of different groups of people comes the
opportunity to share something that may have been only known to one group. What’s even more important is the
new ability to collaborate and to build off what you’ve learned from others and to create something new! I think that
economic, cultural, and social elements have all worked together to mold and change dance into what it is today. All
3 elements are equal in their influences on our modern social dance forms.
DanceSport is a “performance” in the sense that it considers “performance” to be the sum of all the elements that
come together in the act of dancing. People are watching to see your taste in your movement, personality, posture on
the dance floor, and connection with your partner. A successful performance is just basic movements in an
interesting way as opposed to doing a lot of things that make no sense. Identity in the ballroom is a double
performance. Every dancer has separate personalities when they’re on and off stage. This is meaning that dancers on
stage have different personalities and strengths in their body than when they’re off stage in daily life. This is seen
from Carlos, a gay professional dancer who is mire masculine and performs as a straight man.
