LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson students are expected to:

 Differentiate the types of Prose (Narrative, Descriptive, Discursive, Satiric and


Didactic/Directive) through discussions
 Value the importance of knowing the types of adverb through activities, examples
and reflective questioning
 Make examples for each type of Prose

SUBJECT MATTER:

Topic: Recognizing the types of prose

Reference: Book (A journey through Anglo-American Literature 9 pg. 140)

Materials: Laptop, Projector, Pentel pen, manila paper

Activity

 The teacher will have a short lecture about the types of Prose.
 The class will be divided into 5 groups. Each group will be given 1 example of
prose. They will identify what type of prose is assigned to them.
G1- Narrative Prose
G2- Descriptive Prose
G3- Discursive
G4- Didactic/Directive
G5- Satiric
Analysis

 What are the distinctive features of the different types of prose?


Abstraction

Discussion and generalization of the topic.

Application

 Each group will make their own example for the following types of prose:
G1- Narrative Prose
G2- Descriptive Prose
G3- Discursive
G4- Didactic/Directive
G5- Satiric
Evaluation

Write TRUE if the statement is correct and FALSE if it is incorrect.

develops a plot.

______________2. The main function of Discursive prose is to describe, to give as


accurately, or powerfully as possible a deep impression of a character, place, or
situation.

______________3. Satiric prose offers the writer’s thoughts on a particular topic.

______________4. Didactic or Directive prose attempts to influence the reader’s


thinking or behavior in a specific manner.

______________5. The elements of Descriptive prose tend to be exaggeration,


disproportion, ridicule and sarcasm.
