Create Your Own Country

Objective: to practice modals

Step 1: Ask students if they know what a modal verb is, what form the verb
after the modal should have, and some examples of modals.

Step 2: Pass out the information sheet about modals. Have students read it
over.

Step 3: You may break the students into groups of 3 or 4. Have each group
complete the worksheet together.

Step 4: Review the answers. Ask students not only what the correct answer
is, but WHY it is correct.

Step 4: Have students either work individually or in groups to create their

own country by filling out the worksheet, making a map and making a
flag. If they work individually, have them get in small groups at the end
and share. However, this activity tends to be more fun in groups.
