1. ABOUT METERVIEW SEC

MeterView SEC is a dedicated meter parameterization tool for the customer SEC.

MeterView SEC is developed on the base of the existing program SEP2 MeterView 2015, which is a
generic software (SW) meter tool that supports meter reading, parameterization and firmware (FW)
upgrading of complete Iskraemeco meter portfolio.

The new MeterView SEC tool contains the following adaptations and simplifications in comparison with the
generic SEP2 MeterView 2015 tool:
 Application is limited only to SEC meter type(s)
 Setting the meter communication parameters is limited to the very minimum required
 Special GUI control for the Simple configuration enables configuration of the main meter parameters
as specified in Table 9 on page 46 of the document “40-SDMS-02A REV.07 SPECIFICATIONS FOR
ELECTRONIC REVENUE CT AND CT-VT METER”.
 Product uses SEC structure and terminology which is used in the document
“Supplementary_A_OBIS Code(Final) for CT and CT-VT Meter (40-SDMS-02A Rev.07)”
 Meter schemes (available only in the advanced configuration mode) are available immediately by the
click of the mouse; there is no need to create the meter scheme from the meter reading as before.
Furthermore, the meter scheme adapts to the level of association used to communicate with the meter.

2. INSTALLATION
2.1. System requirements
MeterView SEC can run on following operating systems:
 Windows 7 SP1
 Windows 8

In order for MeterView SEC to work properly, following prerequisites must be installed on target computer:
 .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
 .NET Framework 4.5
 Microsoft Report Viewer 2010
 Microsoft SQL Server 2012 LocalDB
 Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable
 for Windows 8 the feature ".NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)" has to be enabled.

If the mentioned prerequisites are not installed on a target computer, MeterView SEC setup installs them
automatically. All necessary installation files are included on distribution media (CD or DVD) and no
additional download from Internet is necessary. This makes it possible to install MeterView SEC for users
with no internet connection. Also, setup files can be optionally downloaded from ISKRAEMECO server.

2.2. Installation
1. Put the installation CD/DVD in the CD/DVD-drive, open MeterView SEC installation folder and run
Setup. The MeterView SEC Setup wizard will appear.

NOTE If any of the prerequisites are not installed on the computer, the wizard will guide you to install
all missing ones. After that it will guide you through the installation of the MeterView SEC.

2. Follow the Setup Wizard steps and provide all necessary data (like accepting the terms in the License
Agreement and selection of the destination folder for installation).

3. Complete the installation with click on Finish button in Installation complete window

2.3. Activation

NOTE Same licenses are used for MeterView SEC as for SEP2 MeterView therefore the description
of the activation in this subchapter refers to SEP2 MeterView.

When you start the application for the first time, you will get the SEP2 MeterView Activation window
(see the Figure 2). In order to use MeterView SEC, you must first activate it.

For MeterView SEC activation you need to provide the data (see the Figure 2):
 Name – provide a name of user, installer or administrator; e.g. John Smith.
 Product Key – a valid Product Key for one of available editions (Base, Professional or Enterprise)
obtained from ISKRAEMECO; it looks like this: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXXX.
 Machine ID – a unique identifier of your computer hardware where MeterView SEC runs;
it is automatically generated from information about your computer hardware components.

1 Instruction – description of available activation options

2 User Information – fill fields with user information:

A Product Key – enter a valid product key you obtained from ISKRAEMECO
B Name – enter a name (of user, installer or administrator; e.g. John Smith)
C Machine ID – already filled with unique identifier based on your hardware; change is disabled
D Product – already filled with product name you want to activate (MeterView SEC)

3 Activation – choose product activation option you want to use

4 Activate now – button for starting process of activation

NOTE Machine ID is generated from information about following computer hardware components:
 Hard Drive: Information about hard drive that has bootable partition. If no hard drive
with bootable partition is found, it contains information about all available hard drives.
 CPU: Information about processor.
 BIOS: Information about BIOS.

If a hardware configuration changes in any of the mentioned components, license

checking fails and user must activate MeterView SEC again.

Activation can be executed in one of the following ways:

 Automatic activation
 Manual activation via Web browser
 Manual activation via e-mail

2.4. Automatic activation

1. Fill all empty fields in User Information section.
2. In Activation section select option Let MeterView SEC automatically obtain Activation Info from
the web.
3. Click Activate now button.

NOTE A connection to the Internet is required.

2.5. Manual activation via Web browser

1. Open MeterView SEC Activation page (https://activate.iskraemeco.si/ActivationServer) and enter
required user information (Name, Product Key and Machine ID). By clicking Activate now you get a
file with Activation information, which you will use for activation.
2. When a file is obtained (downloaded and saved locally), in Activation section select Activation Info
obtained by email or browser, select appropriate file (filename.lic) and click Activate now button.

NOTE A connection to the Internet is not required on computer where MeterView SEC Activation
is executed. A file with Activation information can be obtained on another computer with
connection to the Internet.

2.6. Manual activation via e-mail

1. Send e-mail with required user information (Name, Product Key, Machine ID) to [email protected].
By e-mail from ISKRAEMECO you will receive a file (filename.lic) with Activation information, which
you will use for activation.
2. When a file is obtained and saved locally, in Activation section select Activation Info obtained by email
or browser, select appropriate file (filename.lic) and click Activate now button.

NOTE A connection to the Internet is not required on computer where MeterView SEC Activation
is executed. A file with Activation information can be obtained on another computer with
connection to the Internet.

2.7. Update
If user wants to update (installation of a higher version of the product) MeterView SEC, he or she has to
uninstall the old version and install a new version. License is retained in the new version of MeterView SEC.

What happens to the data? Will they be lost?

NOTE
Data used in previous version will not be lost. It will be used further in updated or
upgraded version of MeterView SEC.
License will also be retained in new version of MeterView SEC.

3. FUNCTIONS OF THE PRODUCT

3.1. Starting the application
Application is started by clicking on the file name with the name “MeterView SEC.exe”.
By default the product is installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Iskraemeco\MeterView SEC.

After starting the application, the following splash window appears. (See the Figure 3.)

3.2. Main application window

Main application window is shown when the application is ready to be used. (See the Figure 4.)

The main ribbon tab named HOME enables access to the main MeterView SEC commands. (See the Figure 5.)

The following commands are accessible from the HOME tab:

 Reading (group):
- Configuration – read the meter configuration from the selected meter
- Registers – read meter registers from the selected meter
- Security – read security related data from the selected meter
- Historical Data – read meter profiles, including LP, billing and log profiles from the meter
- Open – previously saved meter data from HHU application MeterView Field is imported from
the file system and presented in the application
 Configuration (group):
- New offers selection from the following default meter schemes:
o CT – new default scheme will be opened for the CT meter
o CT/VT– new default scheme will be opened for the CT/VT meter
- Open – by clicking on this button the saved configurations from the file system are read and
presented in the application. They are used as a basis for changing the configuration on the meter
- Advanced View (toggle button)
o If this toggle button is OFF (default) the simple configuration window is opened which
allows reading & changing the most important configuration parameters of the meter
o If this toggle button is ON advanced configuration window is opened which allows
reading & changing all the configuration parameters of the meter
 Tools (group):
- Meter time – time on the meter can be read, set, or synchronized with the time on the computer
where the applications runs
- Update Firmware – Meter firmware upgrade can be done in this window
- Command Script – Execution of the command scripts on the meter
- Meter Snapshot – Reading of all the data from a meter and storing it in a read-only file
- Meter Program Configuration – Programming of the meter configuration
 Communication (group) contains the following buttons:
- Settings – meter communication parameters are set
- Communication Log – log is shown, which enables diagnostics of communications problems
and message tracing
 License (group):
- License Manager – opens the window with the application license information

3.3. Setting the meter communication

Operation is activated by clicking on the Communication/Settings command in the HOME ribbon tab.
In the ribbon context tab COMMUNICATION SETTINGS appears and Communications settings window
opens below the ribbon. (See the Figure 6.)

The window is composed of two main window sections:

 Communication Profiles (left side of the window) – presents the list of stored meter configuration
settings with Search and filter capability
 Selected Communication Profile Settings (right side of the window) – enables editing of meter
communication settings for the new or currently selected communication profile

The section Communication Profiles enables filtering of the meters in the list that correspond to the criteria:
 All – shows all the communication profiles
 Recently used – shows only recently used communication profiles
 Favourites – shows only communication profiles marked with Favourite flag

The section Communication Profiles enables arbitrary filtering of the communication profiles that correspond
to the filtering conditions. (See the Figure 7.)

By clicking the right mouse button on the Communication Profiles (left side of the window) area the context
menu is presented (see the Figure 8) offering the operations:
 Add – add a communication profile
 Delete – delete selected communication profile
 Rename – rename selected communication profile
 Delete all – delete all communication profiles
 Copy - copy selected communication profile
 Paste – paste a communication profile
 Edit – edit selected communication profile
 Favourite – mark selected communication profile as favourite
 Use this profile – use the selected communication profile for all further communications with the
meter
 Load default profiles – load two predefined communication profiles which correspond to default
SEC meter settings
- MT880 SEC Optical (use of IEC1107 profile with the optical probe)
- MT880 SEC RS485 (use of DLMS profile with the RS485 device connected to the COM port on
the computer)

The section Selected Communication Profile (right side of the window) enables setting/changing of the
following data:
 Mode; can be one of the following options:
- Optical – use of optical probe with IEC 1107 communication stack. If this option is selected the
flowing data needs to be set:
o COM port – name of COM port where the optical probe is connected
- RS485 – use of RS485 connected to the COM port on the laptop/desktop.
DLMS protocol will be used. If this option is selected the flowing data needs to be set:
o COM port – name of COM port where the RS485 device is connected
o Speed – speed of communications in bits/second
o Meter Ident: - this field is used to define the HDLC variable for the communication. There
are two possibilities to use:
 Hdlc address – the value entered will be used directly to define HDLC address
 Meter Id – according to the convention last 4 digits of the meter serial number + 16 will
be used for HDLC address

- Remote – remote access to the meter using the IP gateway.

o Gateway IP - IP address of the Gateway where the meter is connected to
o Meter Ident: - used to define the HDLC variable for the communication. There are two
possibilities to use:
 Hdlc address – the value entered will be used directly to define HDLC address
 Meter Id – according to the convention last 4 digits of the meter serial number + 16 will
be used for HDLC address
 Security mode – security mode can be one of the following:
- Password – password is used with no transport security (this is the default option for SEC
meters). If this option is selected the following data needs to be set:
o Password – LLS secret
- Password with TS – password with transport security is used. If this option is selected the
following data needs to be set:
o Password – LLS secret
o Authent. Key- Authentication key
o Crypto. Key – Cryptographic key
- GMAC with TS – GMAC security is used. If this option is selected the following data needs to be set:
o Authent. Key- Authentication key
o Crypto. Key – Cryptographic key

The context ribbon tab COMMUNICATION/SETTINGS provides the following commands:

 Save – existing communication settings are stored in the file for future use
 Revert – override the current changed communication settings by the previously saved values
 Show profile card – show communication parameters as additional information on the right of the
profile name in the Communication Profiles list
 Locate applied profile – locate currently used meter in the Communication Profiles list
 Use this profile – selects the current communication profile for the communication with the meter
 Test connection – test the connection with the meter using the current communication profile

When the command Test Connection is chosen the connection with the meter is established and the
following data is read from the meter:
 Meter ID - serial number of the meter
 Firmware - current firmware version installed on the meter
 Meter time – current meter time

At the same time, the following data is read from the computer where the application runs:
 System time – current time on the computer where the application runs

A pop-up window is opened and this information is presented in it (see the Figure 10).

If an error occurs error message is presented (see the Figure 11).

3.4. Reading of the meter configuration

Operation is activated by clicking on the Reading/Configuration command in the HOME ribbon tab.
Dedicated window is opened as presented in the Figure 12.

Please note that this window covers the most important meter parameters described in
NOTE
SEC tender under the Table 9 on page 46 of the document “40-SDMS-02A REV.07
SPECIFICATIONS FOR ELECTRONIC REVENUE CT AND CT-VT METER”.

Data on the meter cannot be changed from this window. For configuration, please refer to
NOTE
the functionality described in 3.9.1. Simple meter configuration on page 20.

In the context ribbon tab READ CONFIGURATION the following commands are available:
 Read – read selected profiles for the given data range from the meter
 Save – save the data read from the meter to the file
 Nodes:
- Expand – expand all nodes of the tree
- Collapse – collapse all nodes of the tree
 Command Script – export the configuration in the form of NCS files which can be used inside the
HHU application MeterView Field

3.5. Reading of meter registers

Operation is activated by clicking on the Reading/Registers command in the HOME ribbon tab.
Dedicated window is opened as presented in the Figure 13. The register values are presented in the tree
structure that depicts the meter scheme.

In the context ribbon tab REGISTERS listed commands are available:

 Read – read meter registers from the meter
 Save – save the registers read from the meter to the file
 Overview – open the presentation of complete meter scheme (all nodes of meter scheme)
 Nodes:

3.6. Reading of meter security data

Operation is activated by clicking on the Reading/Security command in the HOME ribbon tab.
Dedicated window is opened (see the Figure 14). The security related data is presented in the tree structure
that depicts the meter scheme.

In the context ribbon tab named SECURITY the following commands are available:
 Read – read security related data from the meter
 Save – save the security related data read from the meter to the file
 Overview – open the presentation of complete meter scheme (all nodes of meter scheme)
 Nodes:
- Expand – expand all nodes of the tree
- Collapse – collapse all nodes of the tree

3.7. Reading of meter historical data

Operation is activated by clicking on the Reading/Historical Data command in the HOME ribbon tab.
Dedicated window is opened. (See the Figure 15.)

The following data can be read from the meter:

 Load Profiles
 Billing data
 Log files

Before reading the profile data, the user needs to select on the left side of the window:
 Time Range – time range for the reading
 Data Source – one or more profiles for reading

In the context ribbon tab HISTORICAL DATA the commands are available:
 Read – read selected profiles for the given data range
 Data – export the data in one of the following formats:
- CSV
- Word
- PDF
- Excel

 Data Source:
- Select All – select all data sources
- Deselect All – deselect all data sources

The data read from the meter is represented in the Results, Chart or Report tab in the window on the right side.

3.8. Importing of meter data from file system

By clicking on the Reading/Open command in the HOME ribbon tab operation is activated.
File selection dialog is opened and files with the *.MVFE or *.MVP file suffix are presented. (See the Figure 19.)

NOTE  The *.MVFE files are saved to the file system on

the MeterView Field 1.0 Hand-held Unit (HHU) tool
 The *.MVP files are saved to the file system on the MeterView SEC tool

After the file is selected, the contents of the imported file are parsed and presented in the window as shown
in the Figure 20.

Different stored meter readings are presented in separate horizontal tab windows marked with the data code.

Each horizontal tab window presents the data in five vertical tab windows as shown in the Figure 22.

NOTE The file, which is imported, contains different types of data. These captured data are
divided among the following tabs: Historical Data (profiles or logs), Configuration
(configuration data), Registers (register data), Security (security related data) and
All (all data) as shown in the Figure 22.

3.9. Configuring the meter

Operation is activated by clicking on the Configuration/New command or Configuration/Open in the
HOME ribbon tab.

The meter can be configured by the:

 Simple meter configuration or
 Advanced meter configuration.

By default Advanced View is off (see the Figure 23 – left) and Simple meter configuration window is open,
which allows reading & changing the most important (not all) configuration parameters of the meter.

Advanced meter configuration window can be opened only if the Advanced View button is ON (see the
Figure 23 – right). The Advanced meter configuration window allows reading & changing all the configuration
parameters of the meter.

3.9.1. Simple meter configuration

The Simple configuration window contains the control of the main meter parameters as specified in Table 9
on page 46 of the document “40-SDMS-02A REV.07 SPECIFICATIONS FOR ELECTRONIC REVENUE CT
AND CT-VT METER”.

Simple meter configuration window is accessed by choosing the command New/CT (for CT meter) or
New / CT/VT (for CT/VT meter) inside the Configuration/New ribbon tab while the Advanced View toggle
button is OFF. (See the Figure 24.)

 Read - reading of the current configuration from the meter
 Write – writing the configuration on the meter
 Save - saving the current configuration to the files
 Sections – command for managing the configuration sections:

o Collapse – collapse all sections
 Default – set data of all sections to the default values
 Command Script – export the configuration in the form of NCS files which can be used inside the
HHU application MeterView Field

 Clock
- Time zone – meter time zone can be set here
 Time of Use (TOU)
- TOU schedules can be set here
 CT ratio:
- Nominator – nominator for CT
- Denominator - denominator for CT

- Nominator – nominator for VT (only for VCT/VT meter), Ratio is calculated

- Energy width and precision is set for LCD display
- Demand width and precision is set for LCD display
- Current precision is set for LCD display
- Voltage precision is set for LCD display
 Automatic EOB reset time & date:
- Reset time – set reset time
- Reset date - set reset date
 Maximum demand calculation:
- Period – time period for maximum demand calculation
- Number of periods – number of periods for maximum demand calculation
 LP recording
- LP recordings can be set for the meter

NOTE Please note that the default values are set by clicking on the Default buttons on the right
side of any window sections.

3.9.2. Advanced meter configuration

The Advanced configuration window uses the complete meter schemes to read/set/control arbitrary
parameters of the meter.

NOTE Please note that the SEC meter structure and terminology is used.

Advanced meter configuration window is accessed by choosing the command New/CT (for CT meter) or
New / CT/VT (for CT/VT meter) inside the Configuration/New ribbon tab while the Advanced View toggle
button is ON. (See the Figure 26.)

In the advanced view commands available in CONFIGURATION context ribbon tab are:
 Read – reading of the current configuration from the meter
 Write – writing the configuration on the meter
 Save - saving the current configuration to the files in the *.MVP format. Therese files can be later
reused to configure the meter
 Overview – opening the presentation of complete meter scheme (all nodes of meter scheme)
 Tree:
- Select All – all parameters of the tree are selected
- Deselect All – all parameters of the tree are deselected
- Select Current – currently selected branch of the tree is selected
 Nodes:
- Expand – expand all nodes of the tree
- Collapse – collapse all nodes of the tree
 Command Script – export the configuration in the form of NCS files which can be used inside the
HHU application MeterView Field

NOTE Which objects are presented in the window depends on the level of association that the user
has access to.

For example: the user with access to A4 Association has access to all the objects in the
meter. Other users with less permissions have proportionally less objects in the scheme what
results in simplified scheme.

3.10. Reading/Setting the meter time

Operation is activated by clicking on the Tools/Meter Time command in the HOME ribbon tab.
Dedicated window is opened. (See the Figure 28.)

Available commands in the METER TIME context ribbon tab are:

 Read – reading of meter time; applications presents also the difference between meter time and
computer time where the application runs
 Set – set time to define values in the Date and Time field
 Synchronize – time on the meter will be synchronized with the time on the computer

3.11. Update Firmware

Operation is activated by clicking on the Tools/Update Firmware command in the HOME ribbon tab.
Dedicated window is opened. (See the Figure 29.)

In the FIRMWARE context ribbon tab only one commands is available:

 Execute Update – enables firmware update

In the Firmware binary field the file containing the new firmware has to be chosen – choose it with a button
ahead from Firmware binary field.
Choose an option when you want that firmware upgrade would be activated/executed:
 Activate image immediately – firmware update will be executed immediately (immediately after the
FW image will be successfully transferred to the meter)
 Schedule image activation – firmware update will be executed at later time – as it will be set below
the option

3.12. Executing command scripts

Operation is activated by clicking on the Tools/Command Script command in the HOME ribbon tab.
Dedicated window is opened. (See the Figure 30.)

Available commands in the COMMAND SCRIPT context ribbon tab are:

 Add – button opens a dialog which enables selecting the command script (*.ncs) files. After selecting
the files they are copied to special folder and a shortcut button is created. These buttons enable
simple and quick execution of command scripts by clicking on them.
 Execute – opens a dialog to select any command script (*.ncs) file (not just files on the special
folder) and then executes this script file on the meter.
 Delete – clicking this button toggles deleting/executing mode:
- If Delete button was pressed, clicking a button from the list of command scripts deletes a
command script file.
- If Delete button was not pressed (normal operation), clicking on a button from list of command
scripts executes the command script.
 Options – here user can decide whether he/she wants to be asked before executing or deleting
command script files. The following options are available:
- Confirm Execute – ask to confirm the operation before execution of the script on the meter
- Confirm Delete – ask to confirm the delete operation before deleting a *.ncs script
- Show Only Compatible – shows only compatible NCS files for this meter

3.13. Taking the Meter Snapshot

Operation is activated by clicking on the Tools/Meter Snapshot command in the HOME ribbon tab.
The Meter Snapshot window opens and the meter snapshot reading is started immediately. (See the Figure 31.)

Commands available on the FULL METER SNAPSHOT context ribbon tab are:
 Read - reading the meter snapshot again
 Save – saving the meter snapshot to the file in the *.MVP format
 Overview – open the presentation of complete meter scheme in Group View (all nodes of meter
scheme)
 Nodes:
- Expand – expand all nodes of the meter scheme presentation
- Collapse – collapse all nodes of the meter scheme presentation

3.14. Meter Program Configuration

Operation is activated by clicking on the Tools/Meter Program Configuration command in the HOME
ribbon tab. The Meter Program Configuration window opens. (See the Figure 32.)

Commands available on the METER PROGRAM CONFIGURATION context ribbon tab are:
 Read - reading of the current meter program from the meter:
- Active – read active meter program
- Passive – read passive meter program
 Write – writing the configuration to the meter in the Meter program download mode
 Save – saving the current configuration to the files in the *.MVP format.
 Activate – activate passive meter program as active:
- Immediate – immediate activation
- Reserved – delayed activation at the time specified in the dialog box
 Delete – delete passive meter program
 Overview – opening the presentation of complete meter program (all nodes of meter scheme)
 Tree:
- Select All – all parameters of the tree are selected
- Deselect All – all parameters of the tree are deselected
- Select Current – currently selected branch of the tree is selected
 Nodes:
- Expand – expand all nodes of the tree
- Collapse – collapse all nodes of the tree

3.15. Communication log

When Communication/Communication Log command is chosen from HOME ribbon tab the
Communication log window opens, which shows the communication messages. (See the Figure 33.)

 Abort – stop operation of following the meter communication messages
 Follow – continue the operation of following the meter communication messages
 Log:
- Clear – clear all messages

4. SUPPORT FOR METER ASSOCIATIONS

The application offers support for 4 Associations on the SEC meter:
 Association LN#1
 Association LN#2
 Association LN#3
 Association LN#4

In order to use an Association, a command line parameter is required to be supplied as command argument
when the program is started.

Syntax is the following: “MeterView SEC.exe” AN (where N can have value: 1, 2, 3 or 4 corresponding to
the Association level)
Example for Association LN#3: “MeterView SEC.exe” A3

It is convenient to create a Windows shortcut or a .BAT file.

Example of the BAT file for Association LN#3:

start " " "C:\Program Files (x86)\Iskraemeco\MeterView SEC\MeterView SEC.exe" A3

If no argument is provided Association LN#4 is selected.

NOTE Each association requires typically a separate password, which needs to be provided in the
Communication window.
