Infectious diseases are caused by pathogens and can be transmitted from person to person through direct contact or vectors like mosquitoes. Examples include influenza, malaria, cholera and rabies. Non-infectious diseases are caused by intrinsic factors and cannot be transmitted between individuals, such as diabetes, cancer and hereditary conditions. Community hygiene can help reduce infectious diseases but not non-infectious ones.
