Clearing control.

All information stored in your memory will be erased as part of the CLEARING process. Therefore, you will
have to copy this information (such as all part programs, macros, all offsets, parameters [NC and PC, if
present], timer data, keep relays, data table, positioning data, pitch error compensation data, etc.).

Most of this data can be saved by down-loading it into a computer except for the PMC (PC) parameters.
These MUST be either written down or each page photographed.
Consult your control manuals for how to do this. (For example, on page 373 of OPERATOR's MANUAL B-
54814E/02.)

There are certain parameters that must be ENTERED BY HAND in order to up-load this saved data when your
installation is complete.
Therefore, copy down below the following SERVICE PARAMETERS before beginning the installation.

0 = 5130 =
20 = 5131 =
21 = 5132 =
22 = 5140 =
23 = 5141 =
5001 = 5142 =
5002 = 5150 =
5011 = 5151 =
5013 = 5152 =
5110 = 5160 =
5111 = 5161 =
5112 = 5162 =

Also write down on the attached “CHANGING FROM BINARY TO HEXADECIMAL NOTATION” sheets your
OPTION PARAMETERS, 9100 through 9139. These will be re-entered later as Options 1 through 40,
respectively. (Note that your particular control may not use all these options.)

WARNING: THE NEXT STEP WILL ERASE ALL THE INFORMATION IN YOUR CONTROL's MEMORY.

1. While pressing keys "7" and "9", turn on the control. Hold these buttons down until you see the IPL (Initial
Program Load) screen.

2. Press "9" button twice, and then press "INPUT" button.

3. Press "Y" to generate system label.

OPTION PARAMETERS - 9100 series parameters

You now have to inform the control which options it has. To do this, take your sheet of OPTION
PARAMETERS that you previously copied down on the attached “CHANGING FROM BINARY TO
HEXADECIMAL NOTATION sheets”.
Refer to the attached “CHANGING FROM BINARY TO HEXADECIMAL NOTATION” sheets and calculate the
hexadecimal values for all Option Parameters.
4. Answer the "NUMBER OF AXES?" question that comes on screen, then press "INPUT". (Parameter 9000
gives this answer.)

5. Enter the hexadecimal form of your Option Parameters (1 through 40), as necessary.

6. If you make an error in entering, you must press "RESET" and go back to Step #15 and press "9" again
twice, then press "INPUT", and continue on. (Since an error in entering cannot be corrected, you would have
to re-do these steps.)

7. Once all Option Parameters have been correctly entered, the screen may ask you if it is okay to erase
certain files. If you are asked this, press "Y".

8. Exit the IPL mode by pressing "6" and "INPUT" keys.

9. You will now have to re-enter all your data. In order to down-load it from a computer, you will have to set up
your SERVICE PARAMETERS which you previously copied down on paper.

10. Consult your control manuals for how to enter these Service Parameters.
When they are entered, you can up-load all your saved data.

11. Manually enter the PC parameters, if you have any.

12. Reload your programs, tool offset, custom macro variable etc.

13. If trouble develops, please re-check all parameters. They are easily entered incorrectly when manually
loaded.

To Translate from DECIMAL into HEXADECIMAL:

Therefore, since 12 = C and 6 = 6 , the above binary example translates into C6 in hexadecimal form.

Taking another example, 01110011 becomes 73 in hexadecimal form


(0111 = 0 + 4 + 2 + 1 = 7 and 0011 = 0 + 0 + 2 + 1 = 3 ) .
Also, 10011110 becomes 9E in hexadecimal form
(1001 = 8 + 0 + 0 + 1 = 9 and 1110 = 8 + 4 + 2 + 0 = 14 = E).
