Semi-detailed Lesson Plan in English XI


September 20, 2018

I. Objectives
At the end of the session, the students are expected to:
a. get familiarized with the vocabularies found in the article;
b. discuss the article through art of questioning;
c. review the methods used for introductory paragraphs and paragraph patterns in supporting
details; and
d. write a concept paper with thesis sentence and provide at least three specific details to support
the thesis.

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Things: The Throw-Away Society by Alvin Toffler (Cumulative Clarification of the Concept)
Reference: English for Academic and Professional Purposes Reader pp. 120-122
EAPP Teacher’s Guide pp. 120-129
Time Frame: 2 hours
Materials: PPT

III. Procedure
A. Activity
The class will start with a prayer.
The teacher will check the attendance.
The students will be asked following questions that will lead to the topic for today. These questions
are:
a. Have you ever considered wearing a paper wedding gown (females) and paper tuxedo?
Would you keep these after the wedding ceremony or recycle the set into a curtain or table
runner/ placemat?
b. Do you still keep toys that you played with when you were in grade school? Why?
c. What is your dream gadget – the one you want to buy if you had the means? How long
would you keep it?
d. If you had to leave your home because of a disaster, like fire, or flood waters, which three
possessions would you bring with you? Why?
e. Can you list some items that you used only once or twice, and then threw away?
Are you a materialist? In what ways?
In what ways are you not materialist?
What do you think of paper napkins, non-returnable bottles, and other disposable products?
