It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Erin Troast for the position of
Assistant Principal. Mrs. Troast began her career under my leadership in 2014, and immediately displayed excellent
leadership qualities, instructional practices, and tenacity.
As a classroom teacher, Mrs. Troast shows her flexibility in successfully teaching a variety of students, at-
risk, Talented and Gifted, and Special Education. She makes a daily effort to create a atmosphere in her classroom
of support, care, and community. Mrs. Troast has been rewarded for her dedication, as she has received numerous
accolades including a New Teacher of the Year award, PG District Delegate Citation for Outstanding Work with
Students and was a 2017 Finalist for the Maryland Council of Teachers of Mathematics Outstanding Early
Childhood Educator Award. With consistent demonstration of her ability to make all students succeed, it is no
surprise that Mrs. Troast has begun her transition into leadership seamlessly.
In addition to her gleaming qualifications as a classroom teacher, Mrs. Troast displayed leadership qualities
from the first year she began teaching at Lake Arbor. She has done so through serving as Fundraising Chair, Team
Leader, and even seeking external opportunities to work on the Countywide curriculum development team, earning
recognition for her efforts through being chosen as a New Teacher Professional Development Presenter. Mrs. Troast
constantly seeks opportunities to develop her leadership capabilities and has the unwavering ability to complete
tasks with attention to detail and creative solutions. After her first successful year, Mrs. Troast took steps in her
leadership journey including beginning her Master's Degree in Educational Administration and Leadership. Since
completing her degree, she now possesses the knowledge, skills, experience, and characteristics required for a
person to effectively fulfill the expectations and responsibilities of a leadership position.
Even though Mrs. Troast is early in her career, she easily garners the respect of both her coworkers and
parents. As a Grade Level Chair, Club Leader, and Intermediate Team Lead, Mrs. Troast is frequently utilized by
coworkers to assist in implementing best practices for students and developing effective solutions. As a PTA
Liaison, Mrs. Troast frequently mediates parent concerns, and discusses possible solutions. You will not see Mrs.
Troast residing behind her desk, instead, she will be exploring classrooms, getting to know the students and staff
individually, and reaching out to parents to be certain that each student is receiving the care and education they need
to make them successful.
As a principal, I highly recommend Mrs. Troast as a partner in Leadership. Her strong communication and
relationship building skills will allow her to be a dynamic and energetic Assistant Principal. I am sure that you will
be pleased with her ability to create and maintain positive relationships with both staff and community members
through her leadership
Sincerely,
