applicable in ports where the main duty and responsibilities is to complete the customs
formalities like inspection container movement and other things. Or it could be applicable in
situations where C&F companies keep the goods of the manufacturers at one place and distribute
them when the dealers or wholesalers or customers Requires them. The Prices are normally

Cost, insurance and freight" means that the seller delivers when the goods pass the ship's rail in
the port of shipment. The seller must pay the costs and freight necessary to bring the goods to the
named port of destination but the risk of loss of or damage to the goods, as well as any additional
costs due to events occurring after the time of delivery, are transferred from the seller to the
buyer. However, in CIF the seller also has to procure marine insurance against the buyer's risk of
loss of or damage to the goods during the carriage.
"CIF Price Includes the Vehicle Price + Shipping freight + Insurance Cost".
 FOB specifies which party (buyer or seller) pays for which shipment and loading costs,
and/or where responsibility for the goods is transferred.

freight on board . A term used in shipping to refer to the place where the buyer becomes responsible for
the shipment and the shipping charges. Example: If the buyer lives in Des Moines and buys a product
F.O.B. New York, the buyer must pay the shipping charges from New York to Des Moines and is
responsible for seeing that it is properly insured during that shipment.

 CFR or CNF – Cost and Freight (named destination port)

 Seller must pay the costs and freight to bring the goods to the port of destination.
However, risk is transferred to the buyer once the goods have crossed the ship's rail.
Maritime transport only.
 Collect on delivery or COD /COA is a financial transaction where the payment of
products and/or services received is done at the time of actual delivery rather than paid-
for in advance. The term is mainly applied to consumer products purchased from a third
party, where payment is made to or collected by the deliverer from the recipient rather
than the sender, in the way that a collect call is also charged to the recipient instead of the
caller. The delivery company in turn remits the charge for the item itself to the company
which shipped it, keeping only the portion which it charged for the shipping service.

Hey,
How are you? Hows the course work going on? I need a small favor from you if you got some time to
spare. As a part of New Product Development class i was assigned a task, which is

"What Customers Want – Great Examples

•Pick a favorite Brand/Product that exemplifies principles of WCW

•In 5 – 7 PowerPoint Slides

–Introduce the product/brand – personal use, history, etc

–In what ways does it demonstrate ideas in WCW

•Jobs, Outcomes, Constraints

•Targets, Positioning, Themes,

•Inside story of their npd, comparison to competition & industry"

As I am pretty new to this course (infact this field), I need few inputs on how to go ahead. I scheduled an
appointment with my instructor, but before I would meet her, I just wanna go prepared, as in what
exactly I'll be doing on it. Would be great if you can give me some insight on how to start it. It has a lot
of deal with the book "What Customers Want". If you have gone through that book it will be of great
help, else its ok you don't have to take pain.
