Ppe & Tools Required
PPE is equipment worn to minimize exposure to hazards that cause serious workplace
injuries and illnesses. All the workers on site should always wear suitable PPE to reduce the
risk of injuries. The employers should ensure that PPE provided to the workers are
operational and make sure that the workers did not use defective PPE. The lists of PPE are
stated below:-
1. Safety glass
- OSHA suggests that eye protection be routinely considered for use by electricians. It
protects the eyes from dust or falling tools during work [4].
2. Safety belt
- Use when working at height using ladder. It is to protect worker from falling [4].
3. Helmets
- An industrial safety helmet and appropriate accessories conforming to current OSH
Standards should be used by each person exposed to the risk of head injury. Helmets
must be worn at all times in a hard hat area [4].
4. Protective footwear
- Protective footwear, conforming to current OSH Standards should be worn by any
person while engaged in activities where there is a likelihood of a crush injury to the
foot. Protective footwear must be replaced when it no longer provides the protection
intended [4].
5. Safety gloves
- Gloves conforming to OSH Standards and appropriate to the task should be worn by
any person requiring hand protection [4].
6. High visibility clothing
- An outer garment made of highly visible materials should be worn at all times when a
person is working in sawmills. Highly visible reflective clothing must be worn for
night work. They should be close fitting or tucked in to avoid entanglement in
machinery [4].
TOOLS REQUIRED
Tools and equipment that are used during the light bulb changing are listed below:-
1. Non-contact voltage tester
- To check the present of the voltage at the bulb.
2. Tool belt pouch
- To put all the tools inside the pouch which prevent the tools from falling.
3. Ladder
- For changing a light bulb at a high place.
