Laureate English Program

Student Guide for Level Tests

Step 1: Open Internet Browser
On your computer, open an Internet browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox:
Step 2: Type in the Web Address
Type the Laureate web address in the browser window:
1. Type http://laureate.act360.com

2. Click Enter on your keyboard.


3. Laureate’s English testing web page will load:
Step 3: Login
Type in your username and password.
This information was given to you by your teacher.

Registration page.
Step 3: Login – Error Message

1. If you see an error message,


try typing your username and
password again.

2. If you still get an error, contact


your teacher for help.
Step 4: Registration Page
You will see the Registration Page if your name has not been entered for you by Laureate.

Name here

Name here
3. Enter your ID
number if you know it. 1
Or leave it blank.

Step 5: Student Home Page
This is the Student Home page:

This is the test you will take,


but you need to do the
System Check before you
start.
Step 5: Student Home Page: Test Not Ready

If you see a gray button, you


cannot take your test yet.
Please check the date and
time for your test with your
teacher.

If no button appears at all,


there is no test available
(date to take test has
expired)
Step 6: Do the System Check

1. Click System Check. This


is important. It will make
sure the test will run
properly on your computer.
Step 7: Follow Steps on System Check Page
1. Do both steps on the
System Check page.
You need at least Flash
9 installed on your
2 computer. Your
microphone must be
active. And the audio
level of the microphone
cannot be too low.
1 Click “Start Test” to
allow access to your
microphone, select
which microphone to
use, adjust its level,
and record a test audio
that you can play back
to make sure it’s
working. Click on
“Show me how to
allow” for a brief
tutorial.

2. When you are done,


click the Go Back
button.
Step 8: Open the Test

Click this button to open the


test.
Step 9: Read the Test Directions

1. Read all instructions.


Note that each section has its
own individual timer.
Should time run out before
you finish a section, you will
be forced to continue with the
next one.

2. When ready, click Next.


Step 10: Do the Test

1. Always click the Next


button to go to the next
page. There is also a
next button at the bottom
right corner.

Note that you will only be able


to hear each audio once.

2. Look here to see how


much time you have left to
finish the test.
Step 11: Review Button
If it’s active, you can use the
Review button to navigate to
questions in the test: 1

1. Click the Review


button.
2. The Review page,
a pop-up window, will
open. You will see the
questions in the test.

3. You can only jump
to a question you
have seen. Click a
Go button to go to
that question. Also,
3 please note that you
will not be able to
return to a listening
question.
Step 12: Flag a Question
As a reminder to come back to the question later, use the flag icon. Each question has a flag icon.

1. Click the flag button.


When you click on the icon
the first time, the flag
changes from grey (inactive)
to red (active).

3. You see the flag in the
Review page.
4 4. To unflag a question, click
the icon once more. It
changes back to its inactive
state.

Step 13: End Test 1

1. If necessary, you can stop the test


early at any time by clicking the End
Test button.
2. You will see a pop-up warning, asking
you if you really want to end the test. 2
3. Click OK to submit your test. You

cannot return to the test if you click OK.
Click Cancel or X to keep doing the test.

1. If you run out of time, a pop-up alert will appear.


2 2. Click OK. Your test is submitted.
Step 13: End Test Continued
When you get to the last question of the test, the Next button changes to a Submit button.
If there is time left, and if it's allowed, you can review your questions.

1. When you are ready to submit


your test, click the Submit button.
2. You will see a pop-up window
asking if you are sure you want
to submit your test.
3. Click OK to submit your test.

Step 14: Test is Complete
After your test is submitted, you will see this page:

1. If you only had one test to


do, you are now finished.
Click Logout to exit the web
page.

2. Clicking the Home button
will take you back to the
Student Home page. You
might have other tests to take
still.
