Lecture 19 - Three-Reservoir Problem - 2

This document describes a three reservoir branching pipe problem where reservoir A connects to reservoirs B and C through pipes. It outlines three cases of flow: from A and B to C; from A to B and C; and from A directly to C. It also notes that the slope of the hydraulic gradient line indicates the direction of flow between the reservoirs.

Branching Pipes: Three-Reservoir
Problem
We have three cases:
1- Flow from A,B to C
Q1 + Q2 = Q3
2- Flow from A to B,C
Q1 = Q2 + Q3
3- Flow from A to C
Q1 = Q3 and Q2 = 0 ( H.G.L at BJ horizontal )

The slope of the hydraulic gradient line gives the direction of flow
