Task 2
CLO 3: Choose, justify and reflect on the selection of appropriate routines and explain practical
aspects of their implementation.
• Reflect on how routines can impact classroom environment (pacing, preventive CRM,
student engagement)
• Choose and justify the selection of appropriate routines (entering/leaving the class,
transitions, submitting work, resource distribution) in a range of contexts (ages, gender,
class size, school context, class dynamics, parental support)
• Explain practical aspects of implementation (clear instructions consistency)
TASK DESCRIPTION
The task is made up of two activities:
Though there are many routines and procedures all over the school such as returning from assembly
or walking in the hallways, this task focuses on what happens inside of your classroom only.
During the first week of your teaching practice observe your MST and her/his classroom. Make a note
of five (5) routines that you see her/him use every day inside of the classroom. Fill in the table below
to describe EACH routine; when and where it is used; and what is the aim of the routine or the
student behavior that it hopes to achieve.

and why rule together.
One of the routines that I saw at school was they sing the classroom rules song before the class
starts.
One of the routines that left an impact on me was the student attendance, they read the list of
names online and mark it whether the student is absent, late or present. And if the student
didn’t make it on time, they’ll quickly email the parents to see whether the child is coming or
no.
Another routine was the library books, every Tuesday they return the library books they
borrowed so when the students come in the morning they put it in a box that has “library
books” written on it, and then the teacher assistant will take it to the librarian.
EPC 2903 Teaching Practice Booklet
Implementing these routines in a UAE primary classroom in the future will make a difference on
me and the student as well because if they sing the classroom rules before class they’re aware
of the things that are wrong and will try to avoid it at class, I’ve never seen in any government
school that the attendance is taken by the classroom teacher or online, another teacher
assistant will come and ask “who’s absent?” and that’s it. So, applying this routine will show the
parents that we really do care about the student’s whereabouts. And for the library books not
all school follow this routine, but this routine teaches the child how to take care of the book
and that they need to meet all the deadlines for returning the book because it’s on the school
authority.
