Carols Under The Stars: Join Us For

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed, The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head. The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay, The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay. Solo voice: The cattle are lowing, The baby awakes, But little Lord Jesus, No crying he makes. I love thee, Lord Jesus! Look down from the sky, And stay by my cradle Till morning is nigh.

MESSAGE FROM
THE HEAD OF COLLEGE

This joyful event celebrates the end of the academic year and welcomes the spirit of
Christmas. Christmas is a time when families and friends come together to share the season
of giving. In gathering on this evening to share in carols we are reminded of the importance
of the Christmas spirit and how it fills our hearts with love and goodwill. So as the sun
sets and you raise your candles and voices, let us remember God’s peace and love for all.

On behalf of the College, our P&F, the Music Department, and St Peters Church we are pleased
to have this opportunity to bring people together and rejoice in the miracle of Christmas.

Blessings for this festive season.

GIFTS OF GRACE

Support families in some of the poorest communities in the global village.

Tonight we are asking you to consider making a donation to the Australian Lutheran
World Service Gifts of Grace.

This is an opportunity to graciously acknowledge the abundance of our lives and help
those who desperately need basics through donations to the Australian Worldwide
Lutheran Services (AWLS). Rest assured that over 97% of your kind donations go
straight to where it matters – whether it is a pig in Cambodia, a school tutor in
Nepal or soccer ball for kids at Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. You can give gold
coin donations or Gifts of Grace.

Each donation is recognised with a colourful bauble to hang on the Gifting tree.
To acknowledge your generosity for gold coin donations, you get to hang a silver
bauble; when you buy a ‘Gift of Grace’, your family gets a bright pink bauble. We
hope that we can cover the trees in many bright baubles – all for great causes.

With ALWS Gifts of Grace, each gift represents the help you can give people in poor
communities. Your help is delivered to a family in a poor community.

You receive a tax deduction for each Gift of Grace gift you buy.

Australian Lutheran World Service is the overseas aid and resettlement agency of
the Lutheran Church of Australia.

Look out for Santa’s helpers who will assist you contribute to Gifts of Grace.

SANTA CLAUS IS COMIN’ TO TOWN
You better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town

He's making a list,

He's checking it twice,
He's gonna find out who's naughty or nice
Santa Claus is coming to town

He sees you when you're sleeping

And he knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake

You better watch out!

You better not cry
You better not pout, I'm telling you why
'Cause Santa Claus is coming to town

He sees you when you're sleeping

And he knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake

You better watch out!

You better not cry
You better not pout, I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS

I don't want a lot for Christmas I won't make a list and send it
There is just one thing I need To the North Pole for Saint Nick
I don't care about the presents I won't even stay awake to
Underneath the Christmas tree Hear those magic reindeer click

I just want you for my own 'Cause I just want you here tonight
More than you could ever know Holding on to me so tight
Make my wish come true What more can I do?
All I want for Christmas is you. Baby, all I want for Christmas is you,
You, baby
I don't want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need All the lights are shining
And I don't care about the presents So brightly everywhere
Underneath the Christmas tree And the sound of children's
Laughter fills the air
I don't need to hang my stocking
There upon the fireplace And everyone is singing
Santa Claus won't make me happy I hear those sleigh bells ringing
With a toy on Christmas Day Santa, won't you bring me the one I really need?
Won't you please bring my baby to me?
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know Oh, I don't want a lot for Christmas
Make my wish come true This is all I'm asking for
All I want for Christmas is you I just want to see my baby
You, baby Standing right outside my door
I just want you for my own
Oh, I won't ask for much this Christmas More than you could ever know
I won't even wish for snow Make my wish come true
And I'm just gonna keep on waiting Baby, all I want for Christmas is you
Underneath the mistletoe
O COME, ALL YE FAITHFUL

O come, all ye faithful,

Joyful and triumphant!
O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem;
Come and behold him
Born the King of Angels:

Refrain:
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.

God of God,
Light of light,
Lo! he abhors not the Virgin’s womb;
Very God, Begotten not created:

Refrain

Sing, choirs of angels,

Sing in exultation,
Sing, all ye citizens of Heaven above!
Glory to God
In the highest:

Refrain

Yea, Lord, we greet thee,

Born this happy morning;
Jesus, to thee be glory given!
Word of the Father,
Now in flesh appearing!

Refrain
AWAY IN A MANGER
Solo voice: Away in a manger,
No crib for a bed
The little Lord Jesus
Laid down His sweet head
The stars in the bright sky
Looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus
Asleep on the hay

All sing: The cattle are lowing

The Baby awakes
But little Lord Jesus
No crying He makes.
I love Thee, Lord Jesus
Look down from the sky,
And stay by my side,
Until morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus,

I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever,
And love me, I pray.
Bless all the dear children
In Thy tender care,
And fit us for heaven,
To live with Thee there.
JINGLE BELL ROCK

Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock.

Jingle bells swing and jingle bells ring
Snowin' and blowin' up bushels of fun
Now the jingle hop has begun
Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock.
Jingle bells chime in jingle bell time
Dancin' and prancin' in Jingle Bell Square
In the frosty air

What a bright time, it's the right time,

To rock the night away.
Jingle bell time, is a swell time,
To go glidin' in a one-horse sleigh

Giddy-up jingle horse, pick up your feet.

Jingle around the clock
Mix and a-mingle in the jinglin' beat
That's the jingle bell,
That's the jingle bell,
That's the jingle bell rock.
O HOLY NIGHT

O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining,

It is the night of the dear Saviour’s birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
O night divine, the night when Christ was born;
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!

Truly He taught us to love one another,

His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
GOOD KING WENCESLAS

Good King Wenceslas looked out "Sire, the night is darker now
On the Feast of Stephen And the wind blows stronger
When the snow lay 'round about Fails my heart, I know not how
Deep and crisp and even I can go no longer."
Brightly shone the moon that night "Mark my footsteps, good my page
Though the frost was cruel Tread thou in them boldly
When a poor man came in sight Thou shall find the winter's rage
Gath'ring winter fuel Freeze thy blood less coldly."

"Hither, page, and stand by me, In his master's step he trod

If thou know'st it, telling Where the snow lay dinted
Yonder peasant, who is he? Heat was in the very sod
Where and what his dwelling?" Which the Saint had printed
"Sire, he lives a good league hence, Therefore, Christian men, be sure
Underneath the mountain Wealth or rank possessing
Right against the forest fence Ye, who now will bless the poor
By Saint Agnes' fountain." Shall yourselves find blessing.

"Bring me flesh and bring me wine

Bring me pine-logs hither
Thou and I shall see him dine
When we bear them thither."
Page and monarch, forth they went
Forth they went together
Through the rude wind's wild lament
And the bitter weather.
ONCE IN ROYAL DAVID’S CITY

Solo Voice: Once in royal David’s city,

Stood a lowly cattle shed,
Where a mother laid her Baby,
In a manger for His bed
Mary was that mother mild,
Jesus Christ, her little Child.

Choir Only: He came down to earth from

heaven,
Who is God and Lord of all,
And His shelter was a stable,
And His cradle was a stall:
With the poor, and mean, and lowly,
Lived on earth our Saviour holy.

All Sing: And our eyes at last shall see Him,

Through His own redeeming love;
For that child so dear and gentle,
Is our Lord in heaven above,
And He leads His children on,
To the place where He is gone.

Not in that poor lowly stable,

With the oxen standing by,
We shall see Him, but in heaven,
Set at God's right hand on high;
When like stars his children crowned,
All in white shall wait around
DING DONG MERRILY ON HIGH
Ding dong merrily on high,
In heav’n the bells are ringing:
Ding dong! verily the sky
Is riv’n with angel singing
Gloria Hosanna in excelsis!
Gloria Hosanna in excelsis!

E’en so here below, below,

Let steeple bells be swungen,
And “Io, io, io!”
By priest and people sungen
Gloria Hosanna in excelsis!
Gloria Hosanna in excelsis!

Pray you, dutifully prime

Your matin chime, ye ringers,
May you beautifully rhyme
Your eve’time song, ye singers
Gloria Hosanna in excelsis!
Gloria Hosanna in excelsis!
SILENT NIGHT
Lower primary Choir: Silent night,
holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht,

Alles schläft; einsam wacht
Nur das traute hoch heilige Paar.
Holder Knabe im lockigen Haar,
Schlaf in himmlischer Ruh!
Schlaf in himmlischer Ruh!

All: Silent night, holy night:

shepherds quake at the sight;
glories stream from heaven afar,
heavenly hosts sing, ‘Alleluia!
Christ the Saviour is born,
Christ the Saviour is born.’

Silent night, holy night:

wondrous star, lend your light;
with the angels let us sing
Alleluia to our King;
Christ our Saviour is born,
Christ our Saviour is born.
RUDOLPH THE RED NOSED REINDEER

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer

had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw him,
you would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer

used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph
join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve

Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright,
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then all the reindeer loved him

as they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
you'll go down in history!
JINGLE BELLS
