The teacher went on a field trip to Arabia's wildlife center with students where they practiced naming animals in English and Arabic. On Monday, the teacher observed their mentor and planned a lesson on planting beans that they taught the next day, despite finding it complicated from teaching it last year. The bean planting lesson included a song with dance moves for the students to follow along with, and used a checklist to assess students' knowledge of the bean lifecycle steps.

My 4th week in TP (teacher practice) passed by fast, on 21st of October 2018 we went on a field

trip to Arabia’s wildlife center. Throughout the whole trip, both the classroom teacher and I

would ask students to name the animal that is in front of them in English and Arabic to link to

the lessons that they’ve been learning lately. Students enjoyed their time feeding the goats,

making butterfly face masks, and taking pictures by posing behind the cardboard cutout of a

zookeeper.

On Monday, I observed my MST and planned for my next lesson that is going to take place the

next day. I hesitated to teach this lesson because I did last year, and it was a bit complicated, but

despite that I still introduced and explained to the children about the process of planting a bean

(instead of seed). I also played “The planting song” which required everyone to stand up and

follow the exact dance moves. I used a checklist to assess the students’ knowledge when it came

to naming the lifecycle of a bean plant steps in order.
