25-21-30
The Model XXXXX three-place, side-, aft-, or forward-facing, berthing divan assembly, hereafter
referred to as the divan, is made up of a 2-piece divan frame. The divan is designed to meet or
exceed the requirements of FAR 25.XXX, TSO XXXX, and ASXXXX, Type A as a static seat and
TSO XXXX and NASXXXX Type I as a berth. The divan configuration -01 is for mounting on the
left-hand side of the cabin. The divan mounts to standard aircraft floor tracks.
LE
See Table 1 for Leading Particulars.
LEADING PARTICULARS
P TABLE 1
The Model XXXXX divan is shown in Figure 1. The major components of a typical divan unit
includes the base frame assembly with cross straps, a berthing top, and a backrest assembly. Six
floor track fittings are included with the base frame assembly. The divan is equipped with
provisions for a 3-point harness restraint system for three divan occupants.
M
The basic base frame assembly for the divan has two machined support legs attached and
connected by four support tubes and five cross beams. The stanchion in the center of the inboard
side of the divan frame folds down to accommodate a large storage area for the divan mattress.
The basic base frame assembly has an aluminum seat pan web secured with screws. There are
also six cross straps on the outboard side of the divan base frame. These cross straps are
attached to the machined frames with screws.
A
The backrest assembly has four support frames and one support web attached to two round tubes
with screws.
The berthing top consists of two panels. The panels are connected with hinges and unfold to

B. Operation
Release the two berthing top locks, grasp the straps, and lift up on the first panel of the top. Slide
the release lever on each of the four support legs, and rotate each leg into position. A lock pin will
secure each leg when rotated into the deployed position. Pull up and outward to unfold the
berthing top completely.
To stow the berthing top, grasp the straps and lift up and inward to fold the berthing top onto the
divan base. Slide the release lever on each of the four support legs to release the lock pins. Rotate
each leg into the stowed position. Fold the first panel onto the divan base, and slide the two
LE
berthing top locks into place.
A storage box with two hinged doors can be added to close the divan base frame area. The doors
allow access for storage of items in the base frame.
To open a storage box door, pull the latch lever on the front of the door.

4. CLEANING
A. General
The divan is to be cleaned using standard shop practices and the procedures stated below. The
divan should be cleaned when it is operated in environmental conditions that may affect operation.
These conditions (wet, dry, or dusty) should dictate how often cleaning is necessary. Cleaning
agents and materials required for the divan are listed below. Equivalent substitutes may be used
for listed items.
LE
• Soft non-scratching cleaning cloths
• Compressed air
• Denatured alcohol
B. Cleaning
(1) Routinely wipe the divan structural members, panels, and parts with a soft, non-scratching
cleaning cloth to prevent particulate buildup. Cloth may be dampened as required.
(2) Direct compressed air into the door latches and hinges to remove dust and prevent dirt
buildup.

5. INSPECTION/CHECK
A. General
(1) A preliminary cleaning before initial inspection will facilitate location of obvious defects.
B. Divan Structure
(1) Visually inspect structure and working parts under strong light and magnification. Inspect for
cracks, distortion, corrosion, crossed or stripped threads, and excessive wear that might
LE
impair the function of the divan assembly. Replace defective parts.
C. Berthing Top
(1) Inspect the berthing top frame and parts for cracks, distortion, and corrosion.
(2) Inspect berthing top structure, supports, legs, and attaching parts for wear or damage that
may cause binding or otherwise impair operation. Check for cleanliness. Ensure that
excessive debris or dirt has not built up which may cause binding or otherwise impair
freedom of movement.
