2 Prerequisites
2.1 Access Requirements

The following access is required in order to perform the installation:

1. Access to system e.g ECC client where email need to sent out

2.2 Host Name Resolution

Make sure hostname resolution is working properly from SAP Server to SMTP server i.e
nmlecdbs.newcrest.com.au to nmlclex02.newcrest.com.au (172.18.5.66).

3 SCOT configuration process

In order SAP system to be able to send an email we need to configure SCOT. Below are the process
of the SCOT configuration

1. Verify the profile parameters in system

As a part of the Base build the Profile parameters would be created. However
please check if the following profile parameters are setup.

icm/server_port_2 = PROT=SMTP,PORT=25000,TIMEOUT=300
is/SMTP/virt_host_0 = *:25000;

If the above parameters are not available in the profile parameters then they
need to be created. Create then using RZ10 and restart the instance in order
to take effect the changes.

2. User administration (transaction SU01)

Request to SAP Security team to create user under client which is being
configured for the SCOT with S_A.SCON profile and set it as system user.

In transaction SU01, enter the Internet mail address of a user in the field "E-
Mail" under "Address".

3. Client assignment (transaction SICF)

For each client of an SAP system in which incoming mails (or status
notifications for sent mails) are to be received, and processed if necessary,
you must create an SMTP server in which the assignment to a virtual mail
host as well as the logon data is defined. Execute Tcode sicf

From the above screen double click the envelope icon (SAPconnect)

In the Host Data tab profile parameter No. put 0

In the logon data tab key in the client detail and the user.

In the Handler List make sure the CL_SMTP_EXT_SAPCONNECT is the first

4. SAPconnect administration (transaction SCOT)

We need to configure the SMTP server to enable the email functionality with
tcode scot.

Double click the SMTP icon

Select Node in use and also Supply the Mail Host as above and port number

Select "Set" for "Internet"

Fill the address area * and Output formats as above

Assign Default Domain as newcrest.com.au

5. Select as above to move the message to complete status in scot without

confirmation

Schedule job to send the email

E-mails that are sent from an SAP application are merely put into a queue. A
periodically running background process, the SAPconnect send job, takes the
e-mails from the queue and sends them to recipients. From Tcode SCOT
follow below process:

6. Test sending email

Execute Tcode So01

Click New Message

Key in the detail message then click envelope icon to send the email.

Check on SCOT

Check the job to send an email (SM37) whether it is successful.

Once the scheduled job to send an email (SCOTJOB) completed check in scot
transaction. The email should be moved to completed (as below)

7. Configure the SCOT in client 300

Since SCOT works client dependant, each client need to be configured for
step (4 ) SAPconnect administration (transaction SCOT) and (5)
Schedule job to send the email

8. Test send email from client 300

Login to client 300 and execute So01

Click new message and key in the email detail

Click the envelope icon and check there is 1 waiting job need to be sent. The
email queue will be sent by (SCOTJOB) job which is run every 10 minutes.
