Basic Pneumatic

This document outlines objectives for learning about basic pneumatic systems through drawing, assembling, testing, and describing the operation of single and double acting pneumatic cylinder circuits using a pilot actuated directional control valve. It introduces pneumatic systems that use compressed air and lists the apparatus needed, including an air compressor, cylinders, valves, trainer, and simulation software. The procedure involves drawing circuits in the software, testing them in simulation, assembling the physical circuit, and testing and reporting on its functionality.

Basic pneumatic

OBJECTIVES:

1. To draw, assemble, test and describe the operation of a single acting pneumatic
cylinder circuit using a pilot actuated directional control valve.

2. To draw, assemble, test and describe the operation of a double acting pneumatic
cylinder circuit using a pilot actuated directional control valve

Theory:

A pneumatic system is a system that uses compressed air to transmit and control
energy. Pneumatic systems are used in controlling train doors, automatic production
lines, mechanical clamps and others.

Apparatus:

Air compressor unit, pneumatic cylinders, control valves, pneumatic trainer and
Computer Aided Training.

Procedure:

1. Draw the relevant pneumatic circuit on AUTOMATION STUDIO.

2. Test the circuit the simulation function in the AUTOMATION STUDIO,
3. Assembled the circuit drawn in AUTOMATION STUDIO on the Pneumatic Trainer.
4. Test the assembled circuit to show that it is fully functional.
5. Write a report.

Summary

The objectives was achieved which is to draw, assemble, test and describe the operation of
a single and double acting pneumatic cylinder circuit using a pilot actuated directional control
valve
