GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
MARVAC 250 VIM-VAR is a low carbon maraging steel capable of 240,000 psi minimum yield
strength, coupled with excellent toughness and ductility. The alloy has good fabrication
characteristics, which include a low rate of work hardening, good machinability and weldability, and
a very simple heat treatment process. Marvac 250 is produced by vacuum induction melting
followed by VAC-ARC® remelting. This approach provides superior cleanness and a preferred
ingot structure to enhance transverse mechanical properties. Marvac 250 is supplied in the
solution annealed condition.
