Line Follower

The document describes a line-following robot competition with two rounds. In the qualifying round, bots must follow a simple track within 5 minutes to test basic line-following abilities. The final round features a more complex track with loops, junctions, and sharp turns. Bots are judged on their ability to accurately follow the black line on a light blue surface within time limits and track specifications. Participants are limited to a 20cm x 20cm bot powered by a 12V onboard supply and are not allowed to assist their bot once the run begins.

LINE FOLLOWER

Event is to design a line-follower that can traverse a given line on due

course of its run.
BOT SPECIFICATIONS
 The bot must be completely autonomous.
 The bot dimension should not exceed 20cmX20cm. Height &
weight is of participant’s choice.
 The maximum rated power supply is 12V & it should be onboard.
RULES & REGULATIONS
 The line will be black in color with light blue background, on a flux
sheet.
 The maximum number of participants per team is 4 & the
participants can be of same or different institutions.
 Thickness of line may vary from 2.5cm-3cm
 The centre line radius of curves ranges from 5cm to 40cm.
 No readymade kits are allowed.
 Participants should not feed any information to the bot after the
arena is revealed.
 Participants are provided with a test arena at event.
 The event consists of two rounds

Qualifying round:-

Here the basic line-following mechanism of bot will be tested---

 Participants will be given two min to adjust their sensors before
their run. Their run time starts as soon as two min gets over.
 This round will have a simple track & maximum of 5 min will be
given to finish the track.
 This round may consists of loops, obtuse & acute angle turns.
 The maximum deviation from the line is 120 degree i.e. acute
angle will not be less than 60 degree.
 The track resembles the given fig, but may vary from actual
arena.

Final round:-
 This round has loops, discontinuity, junctions. Obtuse & sharp
acute angles.
 The maximum deviation from the line is 150 degrees i.e. acute
angle will not be less than 30 degrees.
 The maximum length of discontinuity will not exceed10cm.
 The arena will be disclosed on day of the event.
 There will be two trails for each team in both the rounds & best of
it will be considered.
 Participants are asked not to assume the intensity of light present
in the place of the event.
 Once the bot starts its run, participants are not allowed to touch
the bot.
 The registration can be done online and as well as on the day of
event, till 11am.
JUDGING CRITERIA
 The selection process for final round will be informed to the
participants on the day of event before the event starts.
 In case of tie, the teams will be given another trail. If still the tie
does not break the coordinators reserve the right to decide the
winner on several criteria.
 The decision of coordinators will be final.
 Participants who will qualify for the second round will get a
participation certificate.
