SLAC SESSION IN
PROJECT PAMULAY
I. Introduction
In all aspects of learning, we cannot expect all our learners to become 100%
compliant to what we expect in our daily lessons. Teachers always do their best to
provide the learners with what they need but it seems that it is not enough. We cannot
impart know-edge to the learners if the problem is reading comprehension itself. We
cannot attain our lessons objectives if our learners don’t know how to read and
understand what they are reading. During the assessment in reading, the results of
reading comprehension for every level in almost all schools are very low. That is why a
project for reading intervention was created to make and administer worksheets to
improve reading levels and abilities of DES non-readers. It aims to bridge the gap in
terms of their reading performances by different activities.
Project Pamulay is an initiative to address reading difficulties starting from the
Basic, pertaining, as soon as early in the Primary Grades, Struggling Readers must be
addressed before they succeed on the next Grade Level. On this way, comprehension
will no longer be a problem in later years in intermediate.
