Infant-Pre-K Curriculum Plan: Technology-Based Lesson/Activity
Infant-Pre-K Curriculum Plan: Technology-Based Lesson/Activity
Activities written for previous classes cannot be re-used and must be the original work of the student.
Ohio Early Domain: Cognition and General Knowledge
Learning &
Strand: Number Sense
Development
Standards: Topic: Number Sense and Counting
Preparation The preparation needed for this activity will be setting up the room with activities that also
of materials relate to the lesson plan and the “game” the children will be engaging in. Preparing the
and room for a successful learning experience.
environment
The materials needed for this activity will be the computer and the game/lesson on the
computer.
The learning environment will be set up with various stations around the classroom relating to
the lesson plan. Such as counting activities, number recognition matching games, and
scooping and measuring rice in the sensory bin. The computers will be located near the
teachers desk for children to have better access to help from the teacher when they need it.
Instructional Procedures:
Day 1:
First 10 minutes: Introductory activity- Students will engage with the teacher in different areas of the room exploring
different mathematical hands on play/activities.
20 minutes: I will then create a sign up sheet for the computer for each child to have a turn to explore the game. The
students will then one by one come over and get onto the computer to play. There will be three computers for each
child to use. Therefore 3 children at a time will be able to be on a computer.
I will be near to help the children when they have questions. I will also be monitoring the room and keeping track of
time for other children to have their turn on the computer. I will stand by the children who are on the computer and
ask open ended questions as they explore the game.
Once the children have had lunch/nap, it will be time to explore different centers again and 3 more children will be
able to get onto the computer.
Day 2: As a group the teacher will show children different patterns and numerals in classroom books or flash cards.
The teacher will then be able to use numeral flash cards with different shapes on them for the children to all identify
in the group. For example, a star with the number 7, or a circle with the number 4. The teacher then will have
students pick a center they would like to explore and have 3 children come onto the computer.
Once the children have had lunch/nap, it will be time to explore different centers again and 3 more children will be
able to get onto the computer.
Day 3: The teacher will conduct group time again with all of the children. This group time will be measuring. This is for
children to be able to count and see the measuring system on a measuring cup to identify numerals. Then children
will go into centers and 3 children will be on the computer exploring the game.
Once the children have had lunch/nap, it will be time to explore different centers again and 3 more children will be
able to get onto the computer.
Day 4: Instead of having group time today, for the first 10 minutes the children will engage in different areas of the
room with a partner. They will then be able to play a matching game in real life by matching numerals and shapes.
While some of the children are working on a scavenger hunt, there will be 3 children on the computer. When the
children have all finished their scavenger hunt, the teacher will conduct a small group time for children to count
different objects and categorize them by shape and size.
Once the children have had lunch/nap, it will be time to explore different centers again and 3 more children will be
able to get onto the computer

The site above is the content standards for children ages birth through five years. This is a website that shows what a
child should be able to accomplish at their age. This will help parents, educators, and students understand what the
standards are for their age group and the activities planned around the standards.

This website is an online game learning system for preschoolers. It ranges from letter and number recognition to
counting.
Differentiated Instructional Support: Students who are struggling with counting, patterns, and number recognition
can be scaffolded by other children who can provide assistance or help them by counting and demonstrating for the
other child. If the student continues to struggle with the content, the student can find other ways to engage in math
with a different center in the classroom. The classroom will be set up in a way that the learning environment will
include different mathematical ideas that promote learning through play. The teacher also plays a role in this by
helping the child or by engaging with them one on one with different learning methods.
For teachers The materials needed for this activity/assignment will be the computer and the lesson
on the computer. The teacher will also need to set up the classrooms learning
centers with different mathematical activities that will promote learning experiences
for the children to better learn patterns, counting, and number recognition.
For students For this activity the children will only need the computer. The children will also have
opportunities in the classroom to continue their learning experiences with hands on
activities.
