Introduction:

In this subject Practicum Academico 1, is a very important component in the professional

development of the UTPL university student, it allows us to develop teaching competences
through educational practice, to have a much broader vision of our future profession in real
life.
In this bimester corresponds the observation of at least 3 teachers in our area, English, at
the basic levels.
For that reason I did the observation in Unidad Educativa Siglo XXI Luis Vargas Torres,
this is a public school, located in the city of Concordia of the province of Santo Domingo,
has about 1000 students, It is one of the most important in the city.
The principal Magister Janett Bravo, very kindly granted me permission to observe the 3
teachers of English: Lic. Yesenia Villaroel, Lic. Marco Espinoza, y Lic. Yanelita
Zambrano.
I was able to observe the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th years of basic education,
an experience that gave me a new vision of reality, and above all, it made me see that it is
the profession that passionate me and I want to do for the rest of my life.
Journal 1

In this journal, I am going to talk about a class that had a great impact on me because it was
one of the best I could observe, the proposed topic was affirmative answers in simple
present, this class was developed focused on two skills, speaking and listening, the teacher
pointed out that the subject had already been discussed in previous classes, the direction of
the group was very good, the environment for learning was perfect, and above all it
maintained the interest of the students throughout the class. In fact the vocabulary that I
used was according to their level since the students understood each of the questions and
instructions for the activities, the teacher made everyone participate in the dialogue, and the
method for correcting the errors was great. the same students to realize that they failed, the
strategy or methodology was conductivism, I could see that at all times was evaluating the
student, in the other listening activity, I use the CD and the basic text, made 3 repetitions of
the dialogue. At the end my perception was of satisfaction because I really felt that they
enjoyed and learned.

In my opinion there are 2 things that could have helped to make it an exceptional class, the
presentation of the objective to the students, so that they understand the importance of the
activities, and maybe add a little extra material for the development of the activities, While
it is true that 40 minutes are not enough, having extra material would help a better
understanding, but my assessment for this class is very good, since it went out of the
ordinary of what I could observe and the interaction between students and teacher was very
good.
Journal 2

In this journal, I will talk about of a class with the youngest students, the theme was my
body, I think that in this class it was very difficult for the teacher to transmit the content
clearly and precisely, many students had questions and interrupted constantly, the teacher
tried to present didactic way the theme, using songs and dynamics. Working with very
young children, in my opinion is a challenge, the treatment that should be with them the
patience and especially the strategies that must be used have to be relevant and appropriate.
The connection of the students with the teacher was very good, however, had to have the
support of the grade teacher to help guide the activities.
In my opinion the structure of the class was good, maybe changing the strategy so as not to
lose a lot of time in organizing the students, it would improve the development of the same,
another aspect that I have to emphasize is the carino and the patience of the teacher for
reach students. The establishment of a method for the orderly participation of children,
would be a good method to maintain the order of the class.
The assessment that I can give to this class is good, since the presentation, and development
of the topic was well structured, the domain In the same way, the negative aspect was the
domain of the group that lost connection at times. But I think the positive attitude of the
teacher was never lost and she made a lot of effort to reach them and get her class through.
Journal 3

In this report I am going to talk about a class that caught my attention, it was a class for
fifth year students, the subject proposed by the teacher was my school, the teacher in this
class had some negative aspects, the vocabulary that he taught did not belong to the level,
this caused the students to lose interest, the teacher started speaking English for 5 minutes,
but after that he did it in Espenol during the class, this did not stop the interest of the
students, which caused him to lose the total control of the class, students left the classroom,
and did not pay due attention, and did not participate in the 2 activities proposed. From my
point of view the teacher did not prepare the class, I think I improvised the subject since the
activities changed constantly, and I was not clear about the purpose of the same. He tried to
present the content in a clear way but, they did not arouse the attention due. If there were
positive points in the class, he knew the subject, but by not preparing the class he lost the
objective and could not get the attention and the participation of the students. however, the
teacher tried to evaluate constantly, perhaps as a strategy to pay more attention.
The assessment that I can give to this class is low, since it was seen that the teacher did not
prepare his class or material, there was no clear method or strategy to be used.
At that moment I felt afraid, and now I know the importance of preparing the material and
the class, so as not to feel lost and not to transmit that to my students.
Journal 4
In this report, I am going to talk about a class that was given for 10th grade students, the
proposed theme was the comparative Adjectives, the teacher Yanelita Zambrano, from my
point of view, was characterized, for managing well the groups she had charge, this allowed
a better development of the class, however in this class I could notice a little more
resistance from her, since she did not allow the students to participate, she told them that
after the questions, in this course there were many concerns in the activities he proposed,
that is, the instructions given by the teacher were not very clear. Despite this, it developed
well, what happened was that the teacher did not know how to manage the time to complete
all the activities, therefore she could not perform the knowledge evaluation and the last
activity did not end and she sent it as homework.
The assessment that I can make to this class is regular, because despite the good
management of the group, mastery of the subject, planning, the teacher in this specific class
did not answer the concerns of the students, this meant that they do not understand the
activities , and at times lose interest in the same, the teacher uses the conductive method,
should change the method, taking into account the theme, activities and age of the group, in
my opinion is a good teacher, but careful discipline that makes lose the objectives of the
class.
No doubt you see that he has a lot of experience, it was a difficult group of students but he
kept order, finally the time management was a weak point since on 2 occasions he lacked
time to complete activities and he did not get to close the learning cycle .
Journal 5

In the following report, I'm going to talk about the class of teacher Marco Espinoza, in the
7th year of basic, the theme for this class was What is your favorite class? What I observed
was that the teacher did not present the subject in a way correct, the students did not have
the respect or the attention to him, the constant anger and the reprimand to the students, this
did not allow that it was developed correctly, they were very difficult groups to handle, the
teacher made a lot of effort to reach them, but again, that he has not prepared the class, nor
that the activities are clear, they help a lot, there were a lot of interruptions during the class,
few students showed interest, a situation a little uncomfortable, but that in the end leaves
me many reflections. Not everything in the class was bad, what I can rescue is mastery of
the subject of the teacher, and what he tried to do was exemplify his explanation, that made
it interesting, he always put practical examples, and in some parts of the class it was funny.
The assessment that I can give to this class is regular, I was able to talk with the professor
for several minutes during the break, and he told me that he was not of English, but because
he had followed a course and knew something, he had been assigned the subject of English,
I think, he tried to justify that hedoes not handle the group, but from my point of view I
know it is not easy and that there are very complicated students in their behavior, but
preparing the class helps you, and a lot since you know what to do and what to say, I think
that if students notice when the teacher is not ready, nowadays they have a lot of
information within reach of a click, so we must be more serious in our work.
Anyway, the teacher put a lot of enthusiasm and attitude, the class ended long before the
bell rang as it was time to go to the break almost 10 minutes before.
Recommendations:
 Group management is very important for the development of a class, that is why
teachers should work more with other methods than conductivism, working with
only one method causes the student to lose interest and Attention, you must take
into account that the motivation also helps, together with a constant evaluation and
do not forget to present the objective to the class.
 Another point to recommend is that the teacher must be prepared for his class, the
successful development depends on the preparation, material, strategies and
methodology to use, if the teacher does not prepare it is difficult to be good class.
this is why the teacher must go to the extra material and activities that arouse the
interest of the students.
 Another aspect to recommend is the active participation of the student, in some
classes they were not allowed to ask, and when they did, they were not answered in
a timely manner, from my point of view, it is very important, since this is how the
interaction begins. , this must be carried out in an orderly manner, but it is
something that should undoubtedly improve since we no longer know what
concerns the students have.

Conclusions:
 In conclusion, managing times, methods, strategies, and presenting them in a clear
and orderly manner, helps the success of a class, without forgetting the motivation
and the constant evaluation is the most important.
 It is evident how knowledge is socially constructed in the classroom. Shared mental
contexts are constructed as a function of joint actions and the understanding of
participants (Edwards and Mercer, 1987). The proposal to confront the student with
the "evidence" through observation and experimental activities is and has probably
been the most significant element in the teaching of science in different
psychopedagogical perspectives (Candela, 2003).
 In my way of living this experience, it was something that contributed a lot in the
way that I saw the teaching, I do not even have the opportunity to do it, I know it is
not easy, to observe that there are difficult students, or to work with children very
small, the patience, the time that must be dedicated to prepare, the material, really is
a profession that requires a lot of passion. In fact It is admirable as teachers within
their limitations, in time, space and resources they find a way to reach their
students.
