Explanation on the guide for accepting components in household appliances

The OSM/HA decided on 14/15/16 June 1999 in Ljubljana to introduce this guide. The guide is intended as a
help for NCBs on how to accept the various components which may be used in household appliances.
As far as available the relevant component standards are listed in the document.

The explanation of the headings of the columns is the following:

• Certified component std. means tested and certified according to the relevant component standard.
• Tested component std. means tested according to the relevant component standard, but not certified.
• Tested appliance std. + component std. means tested according to the component standard and to
additional requirements for the component in the appliance standard.
• Tested appliance std. means only tested according to the appliance standard.
Note 1 :
- all component need to comply with the relevant clauses of the EN 60335-1 standard, whether or
not certified/tested according to component standard.
- This is especially applicable for electronic components, which have to be specifically analysed under
the safety conditions of the appliance.(f.e. §19, 22, 29..)
Note 2
If last column” X” is indicated then other possibilities of conformity are given and not mandatory
(Component standard/certification.) but taking note 1 into account.
if last column has no ”X” then component standard is mandatory.
